Oldies 103.3: Dale and June

No sign of Mauzy so I believe she is done with Oldies 103.3fm. No idea if she will be on weekends anytime soon.

Correct on the lineup. No Mauzy today :'( but she was on last Saturday afternoon and she sounded terrific. I'm thinking maybe they just need to get their weekend lineup in check. Uncle Dale started yesterday, Patrick Callahan returns next Sat morning 7am-9am with the Top 20 Countdown (according to JJ Wright a page or two ago), so maybe there is still hope. Scott Roberts remains on the WODS jock page but I havent heard him in ages. Mike O'Reilly was in both yesterday and today. No idea if Patrick will have an additional weekend shift other than that countdown.

As long as Mauzy remains listed on the website, I've got my fingers crossed.

Maybe JJ can come back into the thread and enlighten us. ;)

I always thought Dale sounded his best when he was doing a tight, music-intensive format. His style really shines when he has to make his point over a :14 intro, and he's good at it...between his sense of timing, quick wit & word economy (no doubt learned early in his career doing Drake radio) is what CHR & oldies radio is all about. A "morning zoo" type show just doesn't work for him...didn't work in the mid-70s on WRKO, didn't work at Oldies either.

Yup. He was great. It was deja-vu to Classic Dale. When he did "The Breakfast Club" it seemed deliberately reserved and conservative. Dale seemed to be watching everything he said-or said nothing. He even commented one morning that one of his past employers didn't like him talking into a song, ala the :14 intro that he's brilliant with as you said, so he didn't on the morning show. I didn't go for those acted "call in" characters that Dale was supposed to interact with, just seemed strained. (K&M at ZLX are much better with callers and they get some genuinely weird people call in. No acts needed!) And after Jimmy left, that all kind of went away, and it seemed Dale's presence was in question-you'd hear a 20 minute set of music with a traffic report and still no Dale.
Karen Blake on the other hand, is perfect in the morning, and Lobel is reserved enough that it works for a morning drive gossip-and-music show.

I'll be tuning in on Saturdays for sure, first for Callahan's countdown which is truly his own special thing then for Dale.

nope, it's 9am to noon. I'm pretty sure I just heard him say goodbye for the day. He did a good job and he really did sound happy to be there.

Neil White is on now.

Did he go out with Loverboy's "Workin' For The Weekend" ? ;)

If Dale went out with Workin for the Weekend that would've been a CLASSIC!!!!

I just thought of something else that nobody has mentioned yet with all of these recent changes at 103.3. One of the more frequent weekend and fill in hosts over the last few years, Steve York, appears to be gone.

Here's a better question, why is Scott Roberts' name still on the website???? He hasn't been on since they cut off overnights in February.

Ya know, I KNEW I was missing something. And it was Steve York. He seems to have disappeared about the same time as Harry Nelson. And jhnkill is right althought I mentioned it earlier in the post...Scott Roberts hasnt been around in awhile but it still listed.

But Neil White isn't listed but he keeps showing up. He was in on Sat and the previous weekend as well.

So for weekends (and once again, for those of you scoring at home)--

Add: Uncle Dale, Patrick Callahan, Neil White
Delete: Harry Nelson, Steve York, Scott Roberts

On The Bubble: Mauzy Stafford, Jessica

I heard Roberts doing Metro Traffic reports on WBZ on a weekend early afternoon a few months ago. I think he was filling in. That's the last I've heard him.

I knew him from working at Greater Media's 1150 WMEX oldies station twenty years ago.

The next time you might hear Jessica is when JJ goes on vacation or fills in for Paula or Karen, or when the Xmas music starts in November, I think she's on 98.5 on Saturdays. Just my opinion. I think it was Judy Pancoast who was on from 7-9 last Saturday for Callahan, great to hear he's back.

Are you talking about Dale or Patrick?? I was just about to post asking if anyone heard Patrick this morning as the live Top 20 Countdown was supposed to start this morning. I've got company this weekend and haven't been listening today at all.

The Top 20 countdown was on, but I was half awake so I do not remember who was doing it at all.

I meant Dale, he seemed right on cue with things.

It was Patrick doing the Countdown this morning. It sounded great! (It was this week in 1967).

In fact, it sounded so good, that I wonder if he was doing it live, or if he pre-recorded the whole show sometime during the week (so that he could've re-recorded or edited any glitches). I know Patrick is a real pro, but it sounded almost too perfect to be live.

Patrick sounded great, he's really at home with that countdown, it's obvious. Not that anyone else didn't do it good, but it's Patrick's forte regarding his factinos, anecdotes and overall nostalgia. Dale sounded great too-started off with a quiet "Hi ma" and as usual did this thing great for three hours. I got a really nice email from Dale himself after I wrote to compliment him on his Saturday show. I told him I "grew up" with him in the 70's and was glad he was back even if for a few hours. He said the support and mail he was getting meant alot, and he was feeling better.

Patrick's bio has officially been added to WODS's weekend crew as well as that of Wolfman Jack who has been dead for 13 years but his old Midnight Special show airs Sun nights.

Mauzy Stafford remains listed but is still amongst the missing.

Scott Roberts remains listed but is also amongst the missing.

Neil White has never been listed but shows up on some Saturdays.

The mystery portion of today's (Sat the 18th) schedule had/has:

noon to 3: The Mysterious Neil White

3 to 7: Mike O'Reilly (although the On-Air box on WODS's website says Mauzy Stafford is on the air)

Maybe that's an omen that she'll be on tomorrow. Judy Pancoast seems to have disappeared over the last couple of weeks.

Heard Mauzy Stafford this morning (Wed morning) doing the morning news and weather/traffic updates on 96-9 WTKK. She sounded fantastic!

Speaking of WTKK news fill-ins, I've heard Stella Mars doing those newsbreaks a couple times on TKK.

Heard Neil White a couple days ago filling in on Mix.
