I always liked steve York. I thought he was a bit generic but always sounded good. I have to disagree regarding Mauzy. I never cared for her sound. I always thought her voice was very irritating and I think many times she talk too much. IMO.
EmilyWatson78 said:lol!!! My opinion is that Mauzy sounds fabulous! I've been listening to her since she was on WCOZ . You probably were listening to someone else. They do have other women on the air, you know. Or is your "opinion" that all women sound alike?
goodguy1510 said:I agree with Emily. I don't think she's being uncool at all. How many times have you heard someone refer to a man's voice as "irritating"? (By the way, I may be showing my age here but that was the old-school excuse for not putting women on the air during the '60s and early 70's. Have we not progressed beyond that?)
What I've always found interesting is the "wannabes" who feel compelled to pass judgment on those who are actually out there doing it. Try being on the air in a major market and see how well you do. On that note - Steve York sounds "generic". What does that mean other than someone feeling the need to find fault? He was on two major stations here in Boston - Mix & Oldies. Most people are lucky to get on just one!
So before you accuse others of being irritating or playing gender cards - think before you write! Could you honestly do what these radio people do, day in and day out? If it sounds easy then that's a testament to their talent.
