Oldies 1130 WBF

Oldies 1130 WBF (Bartow) reduces power in the evening. Which clear channel station is being protected?

I've been told that the power reduction and directional pattern at night is to protect the 1130 station in Shreveport, Louisiana. I do know that I cannot receive (w)WBF here in St. Petersburg at all at night and yet I have received them at night in Stuart (halfway between West Palm and Vero Beach).

btw- 1130,(W)WBF, to the best of my knowledge is the last AM-stereo station in Florida; they turn off the stereo at night due to platform motion. (even though WONN is Lakeland has had some billboards indicating they are am-stereo; WONN's stereo has been turned of for at least 7 years.

How about WBBR in NYC?? Also 1130, of course. I remember hearing them in Cypress Gardens and having a rather loud "Bloomberg Radio" in the background of WBF.

Looking at the projected night-time pattern for (W)WBF, there are two nulls, one toward Shreveport and a secondary null toward NYC; so they appear to be protecting Bloomberg's owned and operated station in NYC as well.

Other than the graveyard channels, I can't think of any medium wave station in Florida that doesn't have to reduce power at night, go directional or both to protect other stations.
