Oldies 1210 Flashback 1991

The second best part of this airchek, aside from Hyski, was the jingles (a mix of TM, Drake, and Otis Connor) - and how they simply sung "WOGL" instead of Oldies 98 for 1210 airplay.

Any more great airchecks in the Hy Lit Hall of Fame you want to share Sam? :)

Sometime in the nineties, I did DX an Oldies station in that direction on 1210 on AM. In Mississippi we do get WPHT and its earlier incarnations on 1210 during the Winter time at night on a regular AM radio. I was wondering whether they had a night time jock during the time they were WOGL-AM oldies 1210?

Funny, I was thinking WOGL-AM only lasted a year or two also, but it ran from August 15, 1990 to March, 1994 timed with the Phillies in spring training. At that time there was still a big overlap of songs with the FM. If they'd really split them with the AM playing mid 1950's to mid-1960's & the FM more the 'classic hits' station it became later the AM might have had a longer & more successful run, especially with the amazing staff of legendary personalities they had then.

I wish there was a really good centralized place to post old airchecks because I have lots of tapes of Philadelphia radio like Hyski's last day on WPGR (with a hand-over from Tommy McCarthy) - I can convert to digital but no place to post them where people can go and hear them anytime (posting here is ok for a day or two they just 'disappear' as new posts are added).

Create a Soundcloud account and upload them there and share the links here :)

Thanks for the suggestions. I gave some airchecks to a site one time & they were posted & I went back later & they were no longer there. Funny, one was a long aircheck of a personality from a country station in Wichita, Ks. from 1975 - it was no longer on the 'airchexx' site BUT the station itself had my exact aircheck lifted from that site posted on THEIR station website as if it was directly from the station archives! lol.
I wasn't sure the sites suggested still took 'new' airchecks because it seems they've only had the same ones for years, but I'll check into this. Something to do with all the old boxes of cassettes! If I post an old WCAU aircheck can I not be held accountable if Julius' head explodes?

John,

I don't want to be a party pooper, but all Hy Lit material has to go through me. I don't do this to be abstinent, I do this specifically for quality control among other factors. Just because it was recorded over the radio doesn't make it public domain. All Hy Lit material is copyright Hy Lit Technologies, and only Hy Lit Technologies.

I will be glad to give you a forum for posting air checks. But hopshot piracy is a no go. Please don't be offended. It's the same thing as if you posted a record by a recording artist. It will arouse legal action immediately.

We have a great deal invested in Hy Lit Technologies, and we don't want infringement or dilution.

You can always contact me directly in regard to your interests, like you have before. My door is always open.
