Congratulations Joe on landing some work. It will be nice to hear you on 93.5. The station is sounding OK, but it hopefully will sound better with some voices. The music with recorded liners doesn't really fit my needs, I can get the same on my computer/mp3 player without the liners and commercials. So, starting Monday, make the station worth listening to. I know you're up to the challenge. Best to you and the station!

Way to go Joe ! It's great you landed mid-days at 93.5. My girlfriend lives in Corinna and I make the trip up there frequently. (Her nearly 100 year old farmhouse sits way out in boonies--but within eyeshot of the former WGUY Tower in Dexter.) Looking to making it up there soon for some vacation time. It'll be great to hear you. Hope it's a great (and long) stay !

Congrats on the gig Joe! I was down in my cellar studio today gathering aircheck tapes to digitize and happened to notice a box that said Joe McMillan WJBQ 1976 on it. When I mp3 it, would you like a copy?

Chuck I would love to have an MP3 Copy of my aircheck from 1976
JBQ was a Super station back in the 70s
Wally Brine Mornings. I did Mid-days and
Jeff Ryder (Mark Osborne) Afternoons
Grant West evenings and Cristy Max overnights
Radio was LIVE 24/7

Wait...why would they can you from the morning show but retain you for production?

Will
I;m Happy to have work doing Production for WNSX...I have No Answers..Its RADIO
This new OLDIES STATION on 93.5 TRU OLDIES I believe is going to do
FANTASTIC in the Augusta/ Waterville/Bangor Market
Proud to be a part of it 1Oam-2PM
Wish you all Success!

Joe, while I wish you and 93.5 success, (I'm able to hear you well in coastal Hancock County), the other day I wanted to see how well the 93.5 signal would come in up to Bangor. I had forgotten that the contemporary music station of Bangor Baptist was on 93.7. I was in the State Street, Broadway, and Bangor Mall area and couldn't receive 93.5 without interference. :(

If I recall correctly, (and Joe, correct me if I'm wrong), but they didn't make the decision to retain you for production right off the bat. That was a later development wasn't it? Still, if they let you go, but want you back, wouldn't that have to make it a budgetary reason? ???

Joe....

You always put out a GREAT product at ODS. I know you will continue it in the 'new age' of radio.
You are one of the 'good guys'

Geoff

You "know how to sound local like no one else?" Really, man? Have you ever listened to ANYONE else in the Bangor Market? Bobby Russell would cut you to ribbons any day of the week, and he's got the numbers to back it up. Enjoy your voicetracking, though, maybe even visit the station you "work" at sometime.

Just making the point that I don't see how anyone can possibly be "local like no one else" if he or she has never even seen the market. You are right, though, I went a bit too far with the bit about visiting the station, and I withdraw the remark. However I stand by the rest of my post.

Wow, "night" that is harsh...especially for you. I've never known you to be a basher on this site...especially calling someone out on their level of "talent" compared to others. I know you have to stand up and speak highly of your fellow employees...but be the good guy like you used to be and don't do it at the expense of diminishing the quality of talent of a fellow jock, especially a full time "employed" jock like Joe. I've noticed over the years that when I've seen Joe post...rarely is it ever negative...if ever!!! Usually a good word here or there, and update on his current situation, a question about a certain market/cluster/station...but I can't remember him bashing anyone. I know you dude...you're better than that.

Yeah, Max, you're right. Pretty uncool of me. I guess that whole "I can sound local like no one else" thing just sticks in my craw, that's all. I have seen this posted by this individual more than once. Now from his airchecks and production samples, he seems like a pretty talented guy, and I am certainly glad to see that he is working. And if he was to say "I am very good at sounding local", that's cool. But to make a sweeping statement like "I can sound local like NO ONE else" is egotism at an unacceptable level. Bobby and Mark, Mike and Mike, Paul Dupuis, any of these guys are what local radio is all about. I'm just saying rachet it down a few clicks, dude. We know you're good, we're all glad to see you back to work. Just chill a little.

Dave out.
