Oldies 93 still stunting

The new format will not debut until 3 tomorrow afternoon!

Goodfellow, just another good family man!

Oh Yeah??? What makes you think so? I guess they could have gotten the jingles, logo, etc. from another "Wolf" station, but why? I also heard today that someone actually tracked down their request for a new Internet domain, etc., consistent with being the Wolf. And, I heard a story about another heritage Country station that was attacked by a Wolf station, and the Wolf station beat the stuffings out of them. Still....it is possible they're still stunting. I kind of wondered why they would start the station ahead of their talking countdown. Hmmmm.... any more hints?

Has anyone seen any tv, newspaper or billboard about "the wolf"? If I were debuting a new format, there'd be tv and newspaper EVERYWHERE today...besides that, it sounds just like TQR- if I was a country listener, I just don't hear any compelling reason to switch from a longtime favorite station.

Entercom copied this from their WOLF in Seattle. It's the same logo, image, music... EVERYTHING!!! You can check it out at www.seattlewolf.com.

The WOLF in Seattle still hasn't beat KMPS, their competition. They've taken a few shares from them, but not much. I think too that it's still a stunt. Why would they flip before their countdown ended? That I don't get.

Any thoughts?

If it is a stunt, what a HOOT! (or HOWL?) There's another thread with a message from Longjohnmaroon, about why they made the change. In it, they talk about advertisers and agencies not supporting the Baby Boomers. When I read that I thought it sounded kind of stupid, like aren't your salespeople good enough to sell the station's listeners? There are some really successful stations out there that are catering to the Baby Boomers and the agencies and advertisers seem to buy THEM. Stations like WTQR, WMAG, WKRR. Sorry, that was a pretty lame statement. BUT, if it IS a stunt, maybe this is their way of getting the advertisers and agencies attention! I also agree with GHattaway that we should be seeing commercials all over the TV tonight for the new Wolf. Or, are they just crying wolf! Ha-ha! We're such sheep! I can't wait to see! This is fun!

Ya know, I just noticed something- every poster to this thread is online now- how many times have you ever seen that happen?

You're right! That doesn't happen very often. I guess we're all anxious as to what people are saying...

Hot Topic! You're right, I've never seen it this active. We're all radio-aholics!

Should we start a support group for us "radio-holics?"

...radio-aholics indeed...I wonder if there is counseling or treatment available for this kind of behavior?

I don't believe there is any help. If there had been help, we probably wouldn't be IN radio! It's the ever-changing industry. You just ride the roller-coaster, baby!!!!

Ah, you're right- it doesn't pay as much as flipping burgers, but it's a heckuva lot more fun!

But everyone says it... "we wouldn't be doing this if we didn't love it" I believe that. I'd rather make less and be happy than making more and being unhappy. Ya know what I mean?

I don't think it is a stunt ... Entercom's entire sales team and then some was all over the Triad this afternoon delivering information and Wolf promotional items.

How do you know this? Are you one of the Triad business owners that was approached?

A number of the businesses I work with were delivered a CD-ROM presentation this afternoon.

So y'all think this is a stunt like CC's "100.7 The Bull" on the late WTRG in Raleigh (now "100.7 The River")? We'll just have to stay tuned and see; unfortunately, I can no longer access the streaming player; the Oldies 93 site now redirects you to www.931wolfcountry.com, and on that page there is no link to the streaming player. I suspect they won't resume streaming until the "official" format is in place and the corresponding website created, at which point only registered listeners may access the stream, like on the other Entercom stations
