As a start up, I hope things go more smoothly than the KXEG disaster.
Could the new KZOM calls stand for 'ZOOM'?

KZOM I'm sure @DavidEduardo will figure it out... ðŸ¤As a start up, I hope things go more smoothly than the KXEG disaster.

Hmmm....a La Zeta branding? Noticed you bold faced the Z 🤔 The new calls seem a little too close to KZON at 103.9, not that it means anything.KZOM I'm sure @DavidEduardo will figure it out... ðŸ¤
And add dead DJ's like Wolfman Jack, Real Don Steele, and Charlie Tuna. ZOMBIE 96.5, All dead, all the time!ZOMbie Radio. They will be playing loops of the Grateful Dead and the Dead Kennedys. Occasional newer tunes from The Killers.
Good name for regional mexican.. ðŸ¤Zorro Radio

Darn! The people that write the articles need to be paid from people reading their articles, so the writers can pay their bills.Darn! The article is paywalled.
Especially when the Desert Valley stations (which I'm guessing are cash flow positive) sold for just $1 million more than this one station plus synchronized on-channel translator, which probably wasn't making money with the oldies format. The buyer applied for trademarks for "Otro Nivel Radio" and "La Z Radio." So the guesses above about "La Z Radio" look right on the money.
I couldn't find any information about the buyer and if they have any previous radio experience. Hopefully they know what they are getting into as $2.4 million plus interest is a hell of a hole to dig out of. Even many experienced operators would struggle to over come that debt/investment with those challenging signals.
The RDS is now saying "KZOM 96.5" and has the format as "Spanish Music." My original guess was that they were going to be the new home of the "La Indiscreta" format after KASA and its translator were forced off the air, but it appears they're going on their own. Good luck to them, the Regional Mexican radio market here is already saturated with better signals and wealthier owners.I heard oldies yesterday on 96.5, but now I'm hearing some type of Mexican music. Given the post above this one, I guess I can't be too surprised. No ID, but some announcements in Spanish. Cuts in and out of my Sangean HD radio inside my stucco-encrusted house in NE Mesa.
He will have a different path, apparently he is an owner who is just starting out in the industry. Abel Quiñonez is apparently the one who will program the format. In the case of KASA, that ship has already sailed...My original guess was that they were going to be the new home of the "La Indiscreta" format after KASA and its translator were forced off the air, but it appears they're going on their own.
The thing I'm wondering is if the reelected U.S. President gets his way and mass deportations ensue, would all of the Spanish stations in Phoenix (including this one) see a massive drop in ratings and revenues. His bio is interesting. He has some experience in this market and Tucson as a former DJ/PD at KCKY, KEVT, KASA, and KCMT/KTKT, apparently, in addition to his consulting practice. But I think the point about this being a new or raw venture is a good one. This is already Univision/Entravision/UFCW country. Another player will find it tough.
No. The non-documented population is not well counted in the Census for obvious reasons. And an undocumented person is not going to accept being electronically metered in the ratings! The thing I'm wondering is if the reelected U.S. President gets his way and mass deportations ensue, would all of the Spanish stations in Phoenix (including this one) see a massive drop in ratings and revenues.
