Oldies Are Back On The Fresno Radio Dial!

Great news, oldies fans! Oldies are back in the Fresno radio market! It plays '50s and '60s! It is licensed to Firebaugh, and broadcasts at a mere 900 watts (hopefully they'll increase it from there). Here is its website: http://www.kyafm.com/. They even broadcast on the Internet! Just click "Listen Live," located in the upper right corner of the homepage. Enjoy!

Oldies' Condition Less Critial in Smaller Markets

Oldies (and Standards) will probably continue in smaller markets.
Smaller market stations rely more on local sales.
Local business owners mostly don't know from demographics and target marketing; they tend to buy what they like.
That means:
They buy if they like the salesman.
They buy if they like the music.
They buy if their friends (other people they like) say they listen.

They buy because their competitor is a regular, and it works! It's an unoffensive, friendly place to have your business associated with, and again, it works advertising on Oldies Stations.

before everybody gets all excited............it's a 900 watt station in Firebaugh CA 46 miles west of fresno............their fringe signal doesn't even reach the western part of fresno, much less a city grade signal

sorry

Don't undrestimate the power of "low power." People will put up with a crappy signal if it delivers someting they want to hear.

Been there, done that. It works.

Only if they have no other option - and they want that something really badly.

Times have changed. People have gotten used to perfect - high quality audio, even Oldies fans.

Maybe they're hoping people will listen to their internet streams. I think satellite and internet are the only places where this music has a viable future. Most people who still like '50's and '60's music have either moved there or to cd's/ipods

MOST OF FRESNO CAN'T HEAR IT..........in fact, really all of Fresno can't hear it other than a little bleed in on the west side of town.

the old dayz of "if u build it they will come" in 1968 where people would bust their butt to get a 250w AM top 40 station.......of course, that's when most markets had a handful of stations

too many other choices today-----and hate to break this news to u but virtually NOBODY will invest time and effort to try & pick up a subpar signal for a niche format
