OLDIES COMING BACK?????????

Putting oldies on 105.7 would surprise nobody. Neither would putting them on 97.9.

100.5 is killing its target demo and will only improve with the disappearance of Project and, to a lesser extent, Dave (although [email protected] will represent competition in the demo).

PRAISE THE LORD. I wish it would be sooner though. I hope they will play some real deep British invasion cuts.

By that you mean the Swinging Blue Jeans and the DC5, and not AYCE Beatles, right?

Yes and hundreds more................

To be honest, it will probably be more along the lines of AGH--some 60s product but no old Merseybeat British Invasion and actually very little of the late 1960s. Of all the "oldies" taboos:

1) No disco
2) No New Wave (70s or 80s) or classic (1980s) alt
3) Heavy rotation of Beatles/Beach Boys/Motown

the station will probably play its share of disco and not play a bunch of Beatles/Beach Boys/Motown. Probably no classic alt, though, except for the random Blondie or Nick Lowe cut and stuff that passed muster at AC outlets the past couple decades.

The playlist will probably be centered on the 1970s, and the wildcard is how much 1980s they play. No pop hair metal, and probably very little from top 40's late-1980s ascendance.

This is AWESOME news! However, I'm not holding my breath and I'll believe it when I hear it. CC does the format much better than Cumulus and if this comes to fruition, maybe we'll even get "American Top 40 the 70's" like many of the other Clear Channel Classic Hit stations. If it's anything like Majic 105.7 in Cleveland, I'll be very happy!

Oldies on 1550 AM, perhaps?

1550 and 101.9. That would be nize.

Or just wait until The Zone tanks when Dave flips and put oldies back on 790 where they belong. You can even save money on jingles.

Since the majority of the listeners on any 105.7/96.7 simulcast are listening to 105, I guess it's just "assumed" that 96.7 will do whatever 105.7 does since that is the main frequency.

Am AM signal will not cut it, especially at night when the power down. Anymore news on this pending flip???????

OK, here's the question: If WQXI-AM were to flip to oldies, would you listen?

If you said "yes", they just cut it.

If the processing were good (see WGUN), I would listen.

There seems to be a forming consensus that CC will put Christmas music on 105.7 at some point as a bridge to a new post-holiday format.
