Oldies...ever again?

What does everyone think of 103.3 now? I think it's sounding better and the music seems to be better-focused and flowing more. Seems that a lot of the late 70s songs have been cut down.

Just wish the signal was better - does anyone else have trouble picking it up? I live in Laurens and the signal is OK, once you get up 385 a bit towards Fountain Inn it gets clear, with no static at least for me. It's OK downtown G'ville but after you get towards West side it starts to get weaker, but definately still listenable.

I agree....I don't see oldies getting more than a 3 share tops. Is that because it's not a good station? No. Just because the signal isn't strong enough. Neither one of those stations will ever be a big success unless paired together. Isn't that what 103.3 was created for in the first place?

So what's next for Davidson in Greenville? How are things over at 103.9?

I hate to sound negative here (I love the oldies too) but as long as "La Lider" from Charlotte continues to pay for the airtime on 103.9 and 910, I'm pretty sure the Spanish will stay. It's a perfect situation for Davidson, they are guaranteed to bring in revenue from these stations without ever selling any advertising.

No, you're not being negative, you're being realistic...is that "La Lider" something local or national? I don't speak Spanish, but it sounds good. LOL

Heard some sort of 50s show on there last night, it sounded pretty good, but the person talking on there sounded like he was gasping for air sometimes.

I think most of the programming is out of Charlotte, though they do some local shows also.

Thanks for posting the story, SCMidlands. I guess radio is cycilical like everything else, and the complaints are just as numerous when once-popular formats like Oldies are now dying everyday...how much outcry was there 25+- years ago when Beautiful Music was the dying format?
The death of "Beautiful Music" seems to be the last time a major format started becoming extinct.

The Oldies 103.3 WOLT-FM is off the air due to their Transmitter is Broken. they are hoping to get fix soon. and get back on the air. from their email to me.
