Oldies Fans in NJ have ONE MORE Outlet...

Well in Northern and Central NJ and not to mention the rest of the world...

WMTR-AM is now streaming Oldies from the 50's & 60's on their website at wmtram.com

So instead of that "bland and boring" setup that CBS-FM offers on their stream...WMTR atleast has jocks. I happen to think that personality is a crucial "element" in radio!

Enjoy the stream...I AM!!

WMTR also seems to be cautiously adding 1964+ songs to their playlist. Today I heard them play "Lightnin' Strikes" by Lou Christie, from 1966. But I suspect it'll still be a while before we start hearing the Beatles and other "British Invasion" groups on WMTR.

It could be worse, Greater Media's Philadelphia Oldies 950 WPEN plays infomercals all during the day Saturdays & Sundays, music only in the evenings. I think WMTR is only mornings. WMTR plays a much better blend of the "real oldies" than WPEN, which plays more "mainstream" oldies. Luckily WWTR comes in through much of the northern suburbs here.

TONY- AS A GREATER MEDIA EMPLOYEE (SEE, I DO LISTEN TO THE STATION) YOU SHOULD NOT BE TELEGRAPHING ANY CHANGES TO ANYTHING ON WMTR. I'M SURE GREATER MEDIA HAS A POLICY ON THIS ISSUE. IT IS EVEN WORSE THAT YOU HAVE PUT YOUR NAME ON THESE POSTS. I'M GLAD THEY DIDN'T GIVE YOU THE COMBINATION TO FORT KNOX.

I beleve its called "free press," and I'm sure his boss doesnt mind that the radio geeks of New Jersey know that WMTR is changing for the better...

WMTR is actually much better than it used to be in this aspect. During the previous Adult Standards format, they had paid programming on weekday evenings and almost all weekend long -- just like WPEN's current schedule. Now, the paid programming (and other miscellaneous non-music programming) only runs from 5 AM to Noon on Saturday and Sunday.

Re: Why Wait 2 weeks for mid-60s?...

Why wait 2 weeks, when you can get a blend of the 50s, 60s & 70s right now, streaming live, at Oldies1360.com with Max Kinkel mornings.
Edited by That_Guy on 06/20/05 01:32 PM.

Beacuse WWTR/WMTR broadcasts in full NRSC 10.2kHz audio, while 1360 is at 6 - and because my laptop doesnt go to the pool....
______________
