Rumor has it that a Central FLorida radio station could be going oldies. Who, what when and where, that I do not know...........but it will happen! Mark my words......

I think 96.5 would be in the running for a format change because lets face it, it needs one

And cool 96.5 has a good ring to it

Cox simply will not launch an traditional 60s baaed oldies anywhere for the forseable future. They have killed off several such stations and only have 4 left even though they do own 5 80s stations. They killed off the only tradional oldies outlets in Jacksonville (Renda now running one on a rim shot stick), Atlanta (another attempt by clear channel died a few months a back), Birmingham (no one else has picked up the format since).

I am willing to bet a lot that Cox will not launch oldies on 96.5 or any Mickeytown stick

Good, because I'd hate to see 96.5 go, even though I have my Top Tracks in the car.

Oh, I forgot to mention one thing....

It will be an AM station going oldies, not FM. Central FLorida encompasses Orlando, The Space Coast, Tampa and Daytona.. at least to me..

So this is some tease about an oldies AM launching somewhere in central Florida which contains at least 5 different radio markets with two in the top 40.

Ok, so I''ll narrow it down, it isn't in the Daytona area..

On my other post some posters say oldies are dead, well by looking at the latest figures i wouldn't say that at all.

Are these the kinda numbers from a dead format?? I THINK NOT!!!

WMQX Oldies - 5.8
WSEN Oldies - 6.0
WNCT Oldies - 4.8
WFLB Oldies - 7.4
KODZ Oldies - 5.1
