Oldies in FWB?

Are there any FWB stations broadcasting in HD (probably not) with an oldies station on HD2 or HD3?

I'm still not buying an HD radio because I have yet to see any portable ones.
Someone told me by mid 2008 there will be portable HD radios.

I can picture country 105.5 broadcasting with either a talk format and/or oldies (since a lot of country listeners do like oldies) I bet ***. will do an FM HD of their 1260 since 1260 can't be heard at night. Period.

yeah, Navarre has a 3500kW @ 2865' daytime FM signing on with HD, theyre going to have 28 HD subchannels...so lets see...28 divided by 96kb/s...each subchannel will be about 3kb/s, which means it will sound like an AM, and the FCC said anything on or sounds, tastes..even smells like AM sould sign off at night in navarre so it doesn't get in the way of the okalissa fire department or castro's heart monitor.

I can relate to the typical Southerner. I have a 1973 Dodge and a 1993 Ford truck (with a 1998 Kenwood CD player in it), both are paid for. I consider myself an early adopter, I replace my computer equipment about every 2 years, I have a Tivo, and I've even got a cell phone small enough to fit in my pocket. If I saw any value in HD radio or DTV, I could go buy one tonight.

Since I feel I'm in touch with this part of the country, I just can't imagine that HD radio will come to our area anytime soon. We might even become the "dumping ground" for used equipment from larger "progressive" northern markets. The FCC has proclaimed that they are going to force something on me that I see no value in. If I don't have HD radio or DTV then I know my friends and neighbors don't have it either. No local broadcaster is ready to waste money on this new technology and they know that we aren't going to waste money on receivers either. HD Radio and DTV aren't as revolutionary as the internet was. There's no way we're going to see it explode in the next couple of years.

With all that out of the way, I've never seen an HD radio. I've never seen a DTV converter for over the air reception. Not in a house, not even in a store. In fact, the only time I've ever seen RDS was in a rental car in Orlando about 18 months ago, I wasn't impressed.

Was this thread about Oldies radio? I like oldies, I wish someone would play it. I'd listen to oldies on an AM station if I had to... even if it was in Navarre, but I'm not buying an HD radio or satellite radio to hear oldies.

Watch what happens with Sunny 105.9 in Orlando.

If this becomes a success for CBS (and I predict it will be), watch for this format to show up in several other markets.

Agreed, it would be great to see Classic Hits/Classic Top 40 in Destin-Fort Walton.

Wave 102.1 is Classic Hits and has been around for awhile now in the Destin FWB market
