It has been there a couple of years. It is somehow informally tied to WKEU am 1450. The wkeuradio.com website has both frequencies in the logo but they do offer some different programming. The FM is formally owned by Georgia Foundation of Public Broadcasting, Inc. while the AM is owned by WLT & Assosiates. The FM is obviously commerical free due to being on the non-comm part of the band and the AM does air commercials with there programming. The 100kw.com website mentions that 88.9 carries Westwood 1's The Oldies Channel format. "The Rock" is 88.9's city of license even though it is made to sound like the stations name. I believe that 88.9 sticks with oldies and news at the top of the hour while the AM is more full service.

I worked at WKEU for 10 years..this was prior to the station acquiring the FM.
The signal is out of Manchester I believe and can be heard all up and down I-75 and I-85. I have even picked it up on I-16 almost to the Laurens County Line. Congratulations to Bill for making this work.

Thanks guys! It was a nice surprise. i really like the programming.
Thought some station had picked up Scott Shannon's new format at first.
Once again. Nice surprise on the southside of town.

Not when I heard it. Those "underwriting announcements" they run sound very much like commercials. There may not be a "call to action", but the copy is written in such a way that it would be hard to call them non-commercial.
