Oldies in Nashville

true. even for 6 yr olds in the car w/mom, most will play cds anyway (even more sadly, many just stick a video in their min-van's DVD player and keep the kids occu)pied that way................these are, of course, moms who don't really talk with or listen to their kids much

oldies didn't work twice in nashville. and it's a fading format-why put a dud on AGAIN?????

I tend to agree. You want better oldies station, go XM or Sirius. That is just the plain facts.

I know many, prolly most folks just are not ready to shell out 12.99 for the subs on XM radio just yet, but better muis formats are available there put togethere by programmers who have been told by their bosses. Hey, turn it loose!!

The prime demos for this oldies format is quite frankly getting older. Classic rock radio is next!! Sad fact but it wil happen to classic AOR also! We are still a few years out on the classic rock thing though!

Just out of curiosity, I used to listen to AM stations going off the air at dark, and one was WAMB. Now THERE'S a good oldies station. Only the songs are too old to even be called oldies. Those are standards. Is it still around? Because they obviously moved from 1160, but they do still have a web site that says 1200.

You are aware the Temptations recorded other songs besides "My Girl", aren't you?
My standards station, or rather the one that used to be mine before I found a better one, played "The Way You Do The Things You Do" and "Ain't Too Proud To Beg". I haven't listened to the other station enough lately. And as a CW viewer, I've heard "Get Ready" numerous times, even if it is Fergie. The standards station I listen to now plays "Just My Imagination".

It's been kinda cool hearing songs that I rarely hear or hearing songs I've never heard before. Some of these "oldies" are "newies" to me.
Happens to me all the time. I'm not old enough to remember when the songs were new. I like them, though.
