? Oldies in Tucson ?

Is there an Oldies station in Tucson? What are the calls?

There is a class IV AM masquerading as
an oldies station--KWFM 1450.

It's about the worst-sounding AM signal
around, as bad as KTUC was some years back
under the Maples then Hassey regimes.

Cheap Channel bounced the oldies format from
its long-time big stick 92.9 to weak sister
97.1 and then to "grunge 1450."

And...while I know some may consider this Q
as blasphemy...why, why does Alan Michaels
have to be on the radio? Does he have some
ironclad contract?

Alan Michaels has achieved what all air-personalities strive for or fail at doing for their entire careers. He has a deep connection with the city - a commitment to many charities - a legandary history spanning many years on the air. While you counld argue his talent - you can not deny his marketability as a station/city ambassador in Tucson. I worked with him at "92.9 - Cool-FM" for a few years back in the early 90's and he commands a real respect in that city.

He is also a Genuine nice guy. First outside station person my wife and I met when we came to town and he was extremely nice. Bobby Rich and Alan Michaels are two names that should be respected in Tucson.
