Well, the concensus of the opinion from those that work in the industry seems to be that this is a bad moove.
Not that Karen is not a good jock, or a nice person...but that they hardly see the fit of Karen onto Oldies.

Somebody mentioned ratings...Here's what we got:
Yes, for the book, Odlies (PM Drive)was in 12th spot 25-54. (They had been in 3rd place to 14th place over the last year.
The two trends since the Spring book have been good. In July JJ was 5th. In August JJ was tied for 6th. Yes the afternoon numbers do jump around.
(To be fair, Dales numbers have not been stellar....he was 10th place in the Spring book for AM Drfive. Beaten by ZLX (WKLB-Country was in 12th.)

From a previous post:
>>>>Z-945 was a success until its purchase and later course change to hip hop.
>>As for linking Karen Blake to the over all failure of a weak frequency that lacked marketing and strong company leadership is a stretch at best and more likely ignorance at its worst. <<
No, not ignorance. Fact. Karen was there....the station did not do well. Nor did Eagle or Star. However, to be fair, she may have been one of the few 'right' things happenning at that(those) station(s).
She does have a high profile and appears to be likable (and memorable) from audience research.
However, JJ's track record is much better. He was at WRKO during their most sucessful years and then went on to spend 18 years at Kiss 108, during their most sucessful reign. (Two of the highest cuming stations in Boston radio history.)
The ratings don't really seem to point to a reason for JJ's sudden removal.
I am guessing that it was either personal....or the fact that Karen is available. (And maybe contribute to bringing some former Star loyalists over?)
It is a move to a slightly younger crowd.
BTW..Didn't Falconi and Blake work together at Eagle?
Is he bowled over by her "star" status?
