Oldies, week 1, my blog!

All right now - stop bickering!!!

Hello all,
For years now I've been reading this board to see what all of us radio geeks have to say about what's right and what's wrong about what is happening in this wacky way out business some of us have gotten in to.

For all intent and purposes it's(this board) good for a good laugh most of the time. Some who post, have good intentions, valid observations and opinions, and that is what is so unique, all of us have opinions. The soul existance of a forum is to allow individuals to express those opinions, though we not always agree, it is our right say what we feel. And also the right to defend and aurgue our opinion.

That said, about me. I realize that I may be liked or disliked, that's okay. I would be a complete fool, if I thought otherwise. But when it's all said and done, and I go home to a loving wife and kids, and get hugs and kisses, that is what makes me happy. I am proud to have been able work in this town steadly for over 30 years. Sure it's had its up and downs, and if it didn't, it would be boring.
My soul responsibility is to my family, and if it takes working overnights, so be it. I have a passion for this radio business as a jock and will do whatever it takes to get another 30, well maybe 10, more years out of it on the air.

Program directors, station managers and consultants have one goal in mind, that is to make their station the best it can be. And if requires moving, firing or hiring talent, thats the way it is and will always be. Heck when I came to Boston back in 73, I replaced someone. I did it at KISS, at WROR and here at Oldies.

So in short, I'll be fine, Karen will be fine and Oldies will be fine. And if you're ever up in the middle of the night, pop over and say hello. And the JJ vs Karen vs Pete Falconi thing is NOT worth fighting over. It isn't even an issue with US, I'm still working, Karen's got a gig again and Pete has a top 10 major market radio station he gets to run. It's all good.

So let's move on. Now were is Serverin?

And yes I'm the real JJ Wright, and my real friends call me ...., ah never mind.

Peace all, or is that piece?

JJ

Rivers you complain that the board holds nothing informative and it's all gossip and jealous bickering then you go and insult Iloveradio, Frish, HelloHello, etc, anyone whose opinions differ from your own.
You think anyone takes yous seriously?.

Get a life man.

Re: All right now - stop bickering!!!

Hey Wiz I got a really good life...man! But thanks for thinking of me.

Do I care if 3 or 4 people posting BS take me seriously... No, not at all.

But some people who see this stuff believe what they read. This smear campaign is digraceful and should not go unanswered. It should not be accepted. In any forum. After all we are discussing human beings their livelihoods and reputation.

Truth use to matter. Now we only pay attention to the loudest noise.

No matter what anybody writes on this board, true or false it wont matter in the final analysis once the numbers come in.

One last thing Wiz, do you get a cool hat with that gig behind the curtain?

Over and out

So you think that insulting virtually everyone else who posts to the contrary of your opinion is better than the so called smear campaign that you're complaining about?. There is no smear anywhere Karen is not a proven talent, period. ZOU was almost two decades ago and the station's she's been associated with since have not been huge successes, that is just fact not gossip or slander. Has it been entirely her fault? of course not but having co anchored a morning show where she was only about as good as she was made to be by her co host does not make her an automatic obvious choice to replace JJ, and saying so is not slander, or smearing her etc, it's the truth swallow it and be a grown up. By the way "I got a good life" would be more effective and believable if it were "I've got a good life", or "I have a good life" however gramatical errors aside you sound like an angry jerk off.

Friends?.

Re: All right now - stop bickering!!!

Hey JJ, at least now I get to listen to you on my way home from work (at 5 AM)!

I have enjoyed hearing you up and down the Boston dial for many years.

One of my favorites was back when WROR used to do a Saturday Night Dance Party that you used to host. That was a great mix you put together!

What kinds of things would JJ talk about when he did the afternoon show? All I rememeber is a lot of sports updates. Nothing spectacular.
>

I think mostly with JJ it was all about the music and not him. It was like, shut up and play the hits, keep it moving, lots of forward momentum. He was however topical when the need arose: what hot movies/tv shows, breaking news bits, music news and music/artist tidbits, weather and the like. That's what "I" heard, but that's just my opinion, not to say whether that was good nor bad. That's just the style radio I personally prefer.
I'm just a fan of old fashioned top 40 radio.....bring back the BIG 68. I get a thrill out of hearing old 60's and 70's airchecks.
And those 'friggin' 7-8 minute stopsets on OLDIES have to go. Damn if I get in my car at 4:15 and I have a 25 minute commute, I hear at most 2-3 songs, and that simply sucks.

Also ask yourself how much JJ was allowed to do/talk about outside of the music. That is also a factor more than many of us think because it is usually between the talent and the PD.

Re: All right now - stop bickering!!!

This is what makes JJ a true professional. Whatever his personal feelings are he is not allowing them to interfere with his job. He is “taking one for the team.” Would he rather be doing afternoons? I’m sure he would, but he understands this is a business and decisions are going to be made for better or worse.

Hats off to JJ for putting family first. I’d do whatever I needed to do to make sure the family was taken care of.

Thanks for stopping by JJ and best of luck!
