Oldies?

I'm not picking on you, hoss, I'm just pointing out some of the realitiers which I didnt think your original post aacknowledged. Other than the technology, I've seen nothing really new in radio in the 45 odd years I've made money off it. The business model has changed as the national economy has changed, but little else.
I watch the pople in Gainesville make money in a small market by doing it right. I watch some of the platyers ion Atlanta not make money by niot doing it right. Others do it right and make money. Realize the definition of 'doing it right' isn't what you or I or anybody else necessarily thinks is right, rather it is what is successful. It is extremely unlikely anyone successful is going to abandon that success for a direction unproven here or elsewhere.
Again, remember 'if you build it, they will come'. Go get a signal do something truly attractive, and you will make a go of it. I don'e see what you are proposing as being that something, but I don't have to be attracted... just enough of the universe of listeners for it to take off. If that suggestion is in your mind condescending, then you been condescended.

How in the world can you even listen to WLNG with all the commercials that they play. WCBS FM in New York City sounds great with the songs they play and the personalities. I love listening online to them at http://www.wcbsfm.com.

Damn - this is real radio again. They play the hits and put sizzle behind it. Not sure if you call it Classic Hits or Oldies. Of course it would work in Atlanta, but then again COX, CUMMULUS, and CLEAR CHANNEL would never do real "live" local radio like this.

I agree. I think this kind of mix could beat the stale River, but what do I know.

I like. Never happen, but I like.

Sure. Get your favorite female DJ on there to say, "I've got Atlanta's greatest hits," and see how long that will last.

(I remember that happening some time ago in another market, but forgot where. Maybe someone can help.)

Great one...

I married the girl with Atlanta's biggest hits, but I still want to see the biggest hits in the country.
