Just out of curiosity...what's the listening range? Does AM1350 reach a lot of listeners? Or is it limited to a 30 mile radius?
Maybe this is the reason the canned programming is just that?
While most AM radio signals on the left side of the dial seem to have a stronger signal...go beyond the 1030 AM position and coverage is greatly diminished. Particularly if there's a day pattern and a night pattern (where the signal decreases).
Kinda sad when you think about the fact that the "oldies format" got its beginning on AM Radio in the first place! ;D

according to R-L the listening range hits Concord and Rochester barely......as for the canned oldies (Jones to be exact) my guess as to why they went satellite is because they're a stand alone AM in a market dominated by Clear Channel and Nassau. I know 2 stand alone AM's in Bangor and both of them are sat. talk all day, every day. It's hard these days to be a small group (and thats all you have, rather than small group in one area and your cash cow in another section of the country) and go up against corporate america.

Not to mention that for all intents and purposes they're a daytimer. They have some low (<100W) night power, but it barely covers the COL. Daytime signal is pretty good, when I lived in Manchester I could hear them on a boombox.
Isn't the station pretty much run by Gary & his wife? Does he even have a sales staff? Never seem to hear much of a spotload.
What does Clear Channel have in the area? Yeah, you can hear Rock 101 & WHEB in the Lakes Region, but that's about it. WOKQ & WBLM are probably the biggest non-local signals in the market but neither is owned by Clear Channel

They have nothing in the Lakes Region AFAIK. Nassau pretty much owns everything except Mr. Shapiro who owns the AM/FM combo in Franklin and WSCY Moultonboro. There's a standalome AM in Wolfeboro, don't know who owns it.

Hmmm... we had a war of Bob owners before: Bob Frisch, Bob Vinikoor, and Rob Wolfe.
Wonder if Bob V. hands off to his son, Jeff, if we'll have a repeat occurrence? ;D
