Olivia Trusty for 5th FCC Seat

The incoming president has picked Olivia Trusty to fill the 5th seat on the FCC:

Her background is mainly on the telecom side, having worked for Verizon. So likely she will be more interested in that aspect rather than broadcasting. She obviously is opposed to net neutrality. If confirmed quickly, that would bring the FCC to full staff so repubs could begin to carry out their agenda. Stark contrast to the dems who had to wait two years before they could get their 5th commissioner confirmed.

Biggest takeaway as far as what to expect...

"cut regulations at a record pace"....I suspect ownership cap will be one of them.

Maybe. It'll come with a quid pro quo. Radio is not a big priority with this group. Here's a comment from the NAB:

So far, no one on the corporate side has said anything negative about the incoming administration. It's all good.

As long as there's mandatory right-wing talk in exchange for release of ownership caps.
