OLN/NHL: When is hockey played outdoors?

I'm not trying to start a fight with hockey fans so no need to take my question that way. If the idea of the channel is to spolight sports that take place outdoors or largely outdoors, why are they airing pro hockey? Isn't that like the Golf Channel airing billiards?
______________

My guess is that Comcast (owner of OLN) is much more focused now on trying to make the network a competitor to ESPN (NFL and MLB games may be next), as opposed to finding programming that matches the channel's existing "theme". I would expect a name change at some point.

YOU ARE CORRECT SIR! HAYOOO!

They've stop being the Outdoor Channel since at least early this year

It's part of Comcast's plan to also acquire the rights to the NFL &

MLB, rename the channel to ComcastSports NET (FOR REAL)

And drop all their reruns of Survivor to I don't know E!

they own 40% of it anyway why not.

And for the record, the NHL played an outdoor game at Edmonton's football stadium a couple of years ago, and Wisconsin and Ohio State will play outdoors at Green Bay's Lambeau Field in February.

Current programming notwithstanding, the 'Outdoor Life Network' branding of the channel has been de-emphasized for simply 'O-L-N', probably signaling an eventual programming expansion beyond that of outdoor sports and recreation.
______________
Why don't you ask yo' mama for a cute closing signature?

Michigan and Michigan State also played college hockey on a temporary rink inside of Spartan Stadium.

It even snowed prior to the Edmonton/Montreal outdoor contest, played at Edmonton's Commonwealth Stadium.

You got it. How much country music do you see on Spike TV these days (the former Nashville Network?) Just like a format change in radio.
