OMD on KOOL-FM OMG

But if you want to feel really ancient, the Stevemeister just played Don't Be Cruel (Elvis)
from '56. I think it was part of today's Top 5 at 5 theme though, since anything pre-'64
on KOOL-FM is normally verboten--except for the Contours' Do You Love Me from 1962,
which surprisingly is still in rotation (it is a good song, so it must "test" well).

"Do You Love Me" is also popular with the roughly 35-40 crowd because it had a renaissance in the mid-80's when it was prominently featured in the movie "Dirty Dancing."  I remember KHTR 103.3 in St. Louis playing it frequently in the summer of '88.  I remember it well as it seemed like it was on the "Top-5 at Noon" with Randy Wright the entire summer!  It was such an irritation because I was a teenager, and I had just broken up with my girlfriend, who really loved that song.  Since we had just split up, I hated everything she liked, and I changed stations almost everytime that song came on!

But can you explain Dion's Runaround Sue (1961!) just getting a spin on KOOL?
I thought I was having a Lumberyard moment. :D

But wait, there's more! Katfish (with a "K") just plugged the jock change at 3:00
by invoking the name...Steve Trella.

Steve Trella...really nice guy! Worked with him at KDKB decades ago, then he moved over to KSLX. Good to hear him back on the radio! Welcome back Steve!

Heard Steve come on the air at 3 while driving around doing my Santa's elf thing...very pleasantly surprised. Mr. Trella will fit right in once he gets comfortable with the format...which shouldn't be very long at all. A welcome addition to KOOL-FM according to my ears...
