OMG!!! Howard Stern to leave in June 2009!!!!!!!!!

Walter Graff said:
And Bubble Yum is made from spider eggs...

You got to love these myths. They usually start up when companies go through change. I guess it helps people feel better about themselves when they can make believe everyone might be loosing their job, even the 'big guys'.

And so you know, if you are going to make up a story, you might want to get it right the first time rather than edit it. Originally the topic of this thread was "'BIG NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'" Now changed to "Re: OMG!!! Howard Stern to leave in June 2009!!!!!!!!!"

And in your original post you said:

"I'm a board op just down the hall from Howard Stern. Apparently Howard will be leaving XM-Sirrius in June 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Only to change it to

"A board op told me..."

Nice game of telephone and about as much truth as Obama being a Muslim.

Hey Know it all...that was a typo on the board op and i changed the title to have Sterns name out front. Here'some more delicious tidbits you probably don't believe. As you know Howard and Don Imus have never been friends...here's a flash for ya...Imus will retire in 2010 because he has some health problems.

Now listen very carefully: Howard is in talks right now with Farid Suleman about mornings on WABC from which it will be syndicated. Howard hates CBS and wants to bury them.

Now put that in your Obama crack pipe and smoke it. :D

There really are some delusional people here. Your myth is about three years old and then too involved Farid Suleman. Sure makes for great gossip. Too bad gossip is poison. I'll be waiting for his last sat show in June as you say. Ha!

http://www.orbitcast.com/archives/rumor-howard-stern-returning-to-terrestrial-radio.html

And as for your "typo"... wow what a typo. You went from saying
"I'm a board op just down the hall from Howard Stern. Apparently Howard will be leaving XM-Sirrius in June 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

to

"A board op told me..."

Your fingers must have been acting on their own to create a typo like that. You should have them checked out. Last I saw, a typo didn't involve changing an entire sentences maening. Oops, a real typo. And since your sparse profile (why can't people use their real names in their profile) shows you live in Los Angeles, I guess it would be hard for you to be a 'board op' down the hall from Stern. Glad it was a typo.

What a silly thread!!!!

There are only two problems with Stern getting hired by Farid at WABC:

1. If Citadel's deep programming cuts don't seriously improve the bottom line, Farid might not be around to hire him.

2. With Citadel stock trading at 17 cents a share, where are they gonna get the money to hire him?

And hence why this thread is crap. Stern is not going to leave sat and turn around terrestrial radio. Those days are over. Citadel is barely in business. All radio is in trouble because the old ways of radio are dead including Stern who has 1 million listeners a week, last anyone looked. Some board op friend of a board op who lives in LA or Hawaii for that matter heard this story from a reputable source and even knows details. Board ops do know all. :) I always say if I won the lottery, I'd buy everyone I know therapy. Lord knows some of the ridiculous threads on this board show that many people need it. Someone pull the plug on this thread which should be titled "National Enquirer Stories".

Walter, you know nothing. This typo story you keep harping on is getting old. Where is your proof? You've had too many Fudgie the Whales. :D

I for one would like hearing Stern on old fashioned radio again. Maybe he is what some corporations need to get companies to advertise. If Howard doesn't come back why doesn't he just syndicate rights to his old shows. Classic Stern....now that would be awesome. Though I did find him entertaining when he went more in a political based talk direction toward the end. Maybe he would do well on a WABC or WOR. Everything changes, right?

As the second poster in this thread, I can attest to Walter's claim that your original post was indeed what it was. Notice that, just like the initial post in this thread, my subsequent post was also edited. However, my original subject matter was not pertaining to the topic in question, but it indeed mostly had to do with the fact that A) the original thread title was so vague, it merited taking the thread initiator to task; and B) such a thread has more relevance on one of the satellite radio boards, regardless of the fact that the show emanates from New York (and as it turns out, the thread initiator is based in Los Angeles). By the time my post was published, it turns out that the thread title was changed, thus making my original post worthless. I am now regretting that decision.

As reported on the Howard Stern show today who will be leaving Sirius in June of 2009 who has 2+ years left on his contract. Robin read the highlights on the news and titled it "Terrestrial radio is in trouble". Howard said how he felt bad for the folks at terrestrial and how he was looking forward to joining the misery in 2009 and how he was so glad to be out of there:

Yes old fashion radio is in for some serious metamorphosis and will never be what we all knew it to be again.

Actually I do love Carvel but probably had one Fudgy the Whale cake in my life. Sad, they finally closed the first Carvel store in Yonkers recently.

As for proof, here is your first post as was emailed to me by this system:

So please crawl back into your hole and leave these boards to serious discussions, not attention seeking threads.

He's going to wind up back on the FM airwaves somewhere in NYC, most likely syndicated as well. As someone mentioned, he's gotta really clean it up if he wants to wind up back on that dreaded terrestrial FM band and people actually paid to hear his full blown, unfiltered raunch. It's going to be hard for people to go back to the way it was. And even more genteel than before, thanks to Michael Powell and these religious radio "watchdog" nut jobs. Granted, we the posters of Radio-Info are watchdogs and in some cases - myself included, nut jobs (at least I tell it like it is.) But I/we don't base our points of view via some Judeo-Something media wanna-be guru that tells us what families allegedly want and then goes home and beats their wives and kids with the Old Testament.

I'm only hoping Obama's choice for FCC chairman will have the good sense to know that radio is in trouble and it's only people like Stern that can save it from oblivion. I mean there are stations in Europe than get away with more risque stuff than Howard Stern is allowed to in the land of "freedom of speech" and that there IS an audience for this material he and other "shock jocks" do and they should have a terrestrial radio format and outlet to be heard in all it's glory. Maybe on HD 2-3 something - do those fall under the same "obscenity" hogwash as as the main analog signals? Would it even be noticed?

And when he's gone from satellite...well that just about wraps it up for Sirius XM. But terrestrial radio needs to wise up too. Because with mobile wi-fi for cars and portables is just around the corner, he could have a future option of doing it all by a subscription service through the web if need be. And that could also happen. But in the meantime, terrestrial radio had better be nice to the King of All Media. He's one of the very few left in this industry that can get what he wants at his own price and national advertisers KNOW this. And respect it.

Well put Bong!!!

Why would Stern ever go back to t-radio?

So he can work 5 days/week instead of 4?

So he can be sensored?

He has 2 Channels of his own on Sirius.

He signed a 5 year/$500 million contract.

That's right, a half BILLION dollars...like he would ever go back to all the BS and headaches involved in t-radio.

Yeah, makes perfect sense, he needs the money. NOT.

But if Sirius XM ceases to exist he would be silenced, he shall be heard my Bretheren!!! AMEN!!!
