First....this processor is a great box! I can't believe this box is so cheap....and powerful. Very good audio quality - I swear it sounds as good as the Omnia 6's and 8500's - and it can "multitask." I've got a loaner on the air now but will be buying at least one for streaming and on-air backup for the 8400.
My problem: I can log into unit remotely but can not get meter movements/presets/change processing. I am using DSL w Netopia modem directly to Omnia. Again - I can log in (I connect) and can get the menu. When I go to metering screen it appears but there is no metering info/movement.
Omnia tech support says it's an IT issue. Anyone have any suggestions as to what to turn on/off on the DSL to make this work?

Have you called your IT guy and asked him to resolve it? Sounds like a firewall is blocking the incoming data.
 
Check to see if the latest version of Java is loaded in your browser properly. I had the same problem with a Dell laptop.

I was able to access the meters & processing part of the remote software from my desktop at the office but when I tried with the laptop I had the issue that you're having. I updated IE and installed the latest version of Java and bingo, everything worked perfect.

Well..that little experiment tells you that the data is being blocked either by your ISP or a router somewhere on / in your setup or along the internet path to and from the Omnia...maybe even something as simple as a firewall!

what version windows are you using.?is the firewall in it turned off?as tjm_pro mentioned make sure you have the latest IE and Java.what virus detection are you using,does it have firewall with it?

I'm running XP Pro, tried with firewall on and off, three different versions on IE/ one Firefox, Norton Corp AV and AVAST - no firewall.
Firewall is disabled on Netopia modem/router. The problem must be in the Netopia - I will download the manual and start digging. But thanks to everyone for the suggestions.
I must say again....this box is impressive! Usually cheap processors can make nice loud squarewaves but are not very "musical." This processor is very intelligent - it seems to handle any material correctly - even those male voices which the Omnia boxes have historically had issues with. I have always prefered Optimod until now but I am now decidely an Omnia fan - I'll try the "Big Box" when I get some budget next year.
My only complaints:
1. No dayparting for presets. I know.....it's $2300 - you can't have your cake and eat it too.....
2. Whit is right - the AC preset, at least on my loaner box, "pumps" like crazy. It sounds like something is corrupted in the preset settings. None of the other presets have this issue - input setup appears to be correct.

AC is mostly syrup, so a strong pump is necessary. ;)

Other musical formats have enough body (dynamics) for a processor to enhance what is already there.
If you don't pump AC like mad, it sounds like you've done nothing at all.

Conclusion- Don't uses the the AC preset, and don't play music which could benefit from such "treatment".
Syrup is for waffles. Elevator music is still elevator music, even if it's current and on a "chart".
 
i think Frank might need to take another look at the AC preset.Got to play with the Omnia One recently,WHOA WILBUR what a horse.I run the 6EXI,dam great processor,but that omnia one is sure no slouch.Very impressive.

He's got a really nice sounding one that he's been spending about a month or so developing.

Give him a buzz, and have him shoot you over the latest version. He's the front line for any customer feedback, and
we would love to have your preset impressions be official with a call to him!

I do not need the AC preset - I'm happy with the other presets as starting points. I have not had time to become acclimated to the One yet.....I may have questions as time goes on.
I'm using the One at a college station.....every type music (and noise) you can imagine. Being able to automate preset selection is important to this station.(The Classical show will not fare well with the One's "Cosmic" setting.)For that reason I will put the 8400 back on in a few days - the One will be used for steaming processing with a gentle "generic" setting.
If there was one feature I wish you would add it would be change-preset automation.

He is the Chief Engineer of an Eclectic programmed college station too. (Every 1 or 2 hours, it's a different program). WCSB 89.3 is using Omnia products, and Mark goes through great pains to customize presets to work across a broad range of programs.

These are NOT front panel tweaks -- he uses all kind of controls that only we at Omnia have access to to radically alter the operation of the processor.

He has created many wonderful presets that do not require dayparting for WCSB....give him a call!
