What have you done for me lately(Janet Jackson) wave file recorded from the off air monitor.Preset courtesy of Mr Gould at Omnia.I would say the 6EXI is running about half throttle, not even breaking a sweat. This is what i mean when i say i like a processor open, bright sounding, but not smashed.whatcha think?

yes, it just a cheapo Teac tuner($99.00 special) used for off air monitoring.thanks for noticing that.recorded in audition 1.5 out of the tape monitor on teac, which as you know may not be the most desired method.

That sounds fantastic. Something you could easily listen to all day long!

thank you,the teac is the basic air check machine.a better representation would have been off the composite .you should hear it on will to power;s,Baby I love your Way.just incredible.we are definitely a female format.

Female formats you should be careful with not having too much high end or too much low end. because women's hearing is different than men's hearing.

thank you dudefan, you are so right.we do the greatest hits format 60-80's TONS of women with TSL's reaching 6 hours(Heavy in office listeners)appreciate your input. But hey we;ll take the men, too.i just like an open smooth sound...

You got it! It's pretty amazing.

My tastes run a little more dense and a little warmer... more tube-era AM radio.

I gotta call Mark to see if he's got any exciting presets sitting around for an O3Turbo.

We're budgeting for a ONE for next year.

That's a nice sound, sounds as close to a CD as you're going to get that song to sound on the radio.

I've learned over the years, one thing that sounds great in one market can sound not so much in another.

Here, for some reason, the stations all sound fairly open but have a very dense, overprocessed midrange to cut through on a clock radio.

So, while something may sound good in an audio file, what really matters is how does it sound relative to what surrounds? I can tell how good this file sounds, but how loud is it in comparison?

just throwin' in 2 cents.

Very valid point.Dial dominance is not what we're after, but the ironic thing is we are as loud or louder than the competition.(the majority we just make toast out of).

Warm, bright, AND open. Bravo. 8) Wish I could hear Yummy Yummy Yummy on this with big reverb. 8)

Very good. But it's more the ARIANE not the 8100a.The Ariane in front of ANY box will make it sound great. Also remember my file came off the tape out from a low end teac(off air) receiver, yours probably off the composite.i just uploaded the same file using the night preset on the omnia..i think your clip is more of a CHR approach, while i prefer AC and a little more easier on ladies ears.I feel overall mine is less fatiguing than yours,BUT if i was hot rockin flame throwing,i would have a different approach on the processor setup.i can always add that THUNDER BASS,if that's the sound i wanted.....http://fserver.redirectme.net/

PASS clips

Actually, mine came out of the back of a Sherwood receiver. And while the Ariane does the lifting and the spectral balance act, It is the Optimod that packs it in and keeps it neat!

The cool thing about the 8100 is the fact that it will work well with almost any pre-processor (Prisms, Ariane, Compellor, Tri Mazes, SEP/SEC 800).

it's all about the DESIRED settings one wants out of these boxes. But without that Ariane, the 8100 could not stay with the competition today.Just imagine the Omnia with the Ariane in front, whole new ball game.i like the 8100,but only would use it with with pre-processing.last setup i had YEARS ago was 8100/XT.Always easier on the box, when using external AGC.IMHO

Both presets are just excellent and prove how good a processor can sound.i always ask the client to describe the type sound (format specific)you think you want to achieve and go from there. Now you could stick an ariane in front of a blender and the blender would sound different.(ha)That is one bad pre-processor.With the 8100 it just makes the box come alive.I bet Mr.Orban wishes he could put that genie in a bottle and release it as a 2008 model 8100A.
Heard a 6exi in south louisiana doing urban hip hop,MAN IT WAS UNREAL.BASS,MIDS, HIGHS. That box will do whatever you ask of it.Good thread here and top notch processing.

Actually I know of an 8100/XT2 by itself that sounds awesome in this market.

The Ariane is a good product, but what is ahead of it is just as important. I'd be hard pressed to find something as musical as the 8100/Ariane.
