Omnia FM3t Settings

Howdy! On this topic again, looking for any new help.

Currently using the Omnia FM3t on our Urban format.

Chain: Audio Vault through console, through DA, into Marti 10's-out, into Marti 10's,
into Omnia.

Clean and Simple to the processor. Format is aggressive Urban/Hip Hop. Anyone using this unit that would like
to share some settings? Tried to start with the "Urban" setting bit didn't get to far.
What sound am I looking for, you ask? Clean/med processed/balance of highs and lows. You know,
same as everyone else ! lol. Anyway, ...Please help if you can. Thank you!

Have you tried the Hot ACor CHR/Phat setting as a starting point? HumorMe for sh*ts and giggles...

Have you called support for ideas? They'll save you quite a bit of effort.

It's been more than a few years that I've played with O3fmt, but you can try these.

Since I haven't been able to verify how these sound, use at your own risk ;)

Goran (or anybody else),

Do you have a setup for a Country format? I run the FM3T on a big country station and it always sounds muddy to me. I've tried tweaking the Country preset, but I can never get it PERFECT.

Thank you for the files. First off i'm not even driving the input enough.. It's only -30. And Output is way to hot..I'm Ops. My engineer and I were out last night working on toning console, stl, etc and had issues. He's going back out tonight.

We must be overcompensating because installing those presets made it fall flat.

ddrop: The O3T is sensitive to the input levels. Too much, you get a mess, too little and you are not effectively using the processor. Fix that first. Too much level is worse than not enough.

Lazy J:

First, make sure you have clean and in-phase audio up to the O3T. GIGO.

Then, for a rough adjustment of the EQ, you've got the Crossover drives, the Tri Band AGC drives, the Tri-Band Limiter drives, and then, for light (very light) tweaking, the Mixer settings.

You will do the most work in the Triband section.

Here are some other settings in the O3T
Phase Rotator: ON
HP Filter: OUT
Stereo
Anlog
Power Limiter: ON
Pre-Emphasis: ON 50 (as soon as I turned this on, audio got brighter and seemed like it "woke up"
De=Emphasis: OFF

Thoughts?

Where are you located?? Your pre-emphasis should be set to 75 if you're in the USA, Mexico or Canada.

It will sound like crap if there is no pre-emphasis!!

Power Limiter: ON

This is a big no, no! Unless you are in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and a few other countries that require BS-412 MPX power limiting to be used. Otherwise, you want to turn it off! Having it on will reduce loudness drastically.

Pre-Emphasis: ON 50 (as soon as I turned this on, audio got brighter and seemed like it "woke up"

As WNTIRadio says, if you are in North America you need to set this to 75us for the correct frequency response on the receivers.

Input level wise, -30 is too low. Bring it up to -20 to -18. Don't go too high, as O3 doesn't like too hot input levels.

WNTI & Goran are correct in their replies. Most importantly are the Power Limiter must be OFF, unless you're in those European Countries that were listed. Same for reemphasis. Those two functions will have a major effect.

Also, please feel free to contact our Support Dept for added assistance. Although, this group does a super job helping folks too!
