Just put the Omnia One FM on air and WOW what a super box. Loud and clean audio. We are using the 80's preset that we found on the Omnia site. Anyone else like this box?
 
It's a great box, no doubt. Cornelius Gould and the guys up there really poured a lot of time into perfecting it over the last couple of years.

That "Mighty80's" preset has really taken on a life of its own! It also sounds best on the Omnia.one, probably because of the four band architecture.

I originally created that preset to see if such a sound could be done on a modern processor.

Showed it to a few buddies who are into that "sound", and they loved it. I released it to the world, and it just keeps going, and going, and going....

We have been running the 80's preset for some time now. Love how it sounds.

Did add final clipping to the preset but other than that it is stock. Seems clipping is always off when presets are changed. So is this a utilitarian way of keeping everything the same except the actual audio preset? The only variance here is that when you switch presets and clipping has been set on and at a level there is no good way to compare apples and oranges with clipping.

Because of this I have to wonder if the presets you use have no clipper or are just by default left to the user?

Someone in radioland has to wonder when after midnight I remotely listened to every preset to find my facorite. or they could have just thought it was them.

Hi!

Generally, I run the clippers for maximum quality, and let the end users dial in the amount they need in their markets. Each market is all over the place in this regard.

I typically run the composite clipper "off" for similar reasons. In some markets, this is how everyone runs. In others, 3dB of Composite clipping is the norm.

Having said that, there are those rare occasions where I'll intentionally run a bit of final composite clipping in a preset to achieve an effect. ;D

It would be interesting to see what the 3Turbo can do.

It may be something I try when I'm not busy working on processing algorithms for new products!

IMHO, the DSPX miniFM SE is as good or better then the Omnia 1 for less then half it's price. Goran did a great job on that box.

Is that 80's preset also running on the internet stream from WAMS FM?

Thanks for the kind words, Dana. I did my best to make it sound the best that I could, considering the development time given and limitations of DSP power available.

No, Dover (WAMS) has a Omnia 3 FMT. We are upgrading to the Omnia 1FM. We use the Omnis 1 FM in Ocean City, MD.

When visiting BW that Mini SE sure did sounded great. Would love to have seen what you could have done with power in the lid of the Xtreme. ;)

You should visit us in our new building and see some of the new projects. I'm sure one of the eight product developers will want to show off their latest and greatest software or hardware creation :)
