Omnia ONE pumping

I have consulted the support team, they offered some suggestions, now I'd love to hear from some folks who are using these units. The Omnia ONE is giving me a lot of trouble with pumping. Especially in the High and Presence bands. I would love to know if others have run into this issue yet, and how they remedied it. Thanks a bunch. All the best, Whit

Huh?

Our unit sounds fine...no pumping at all. Based on all the posts you've made, I'll venture to say, you've got something setup incorrectly.

Our One sounds better than anything we've used before.

Check the input level for overdrive. Make sure if you have another box ahead of it that this isn't the problem.

Check the gate. If it's off or has a low threshold and the input is hot, that would make it pump the audio.

Great menotti thanks for that asinine response. Too bad for you it IS set up properly. Now can I hear from somebody who doesn't want to criticize me? Thanks ;D

Pumping is only with hypercompressed material. Just for S's & G's, where are your songs hitting on the One's input with 0VU program material?

Ahh ha!!!! Hypercompressed material.... there's your problem! That stuff does not go through "any" processor very well.

menotti1 is right.NO one seems to have all these issues with processors but whitfm.Hell i bet you can hear the pumping off that trashy hyper compressed cd just listening to it in a cd player.and scope it.Set the box up, get the best spectral BALANCE you can and leave it alone. This kid has way too much time on his hands.Junk in/junk out.And don't be rude when you ask for advice. Most of us have been doing this LONG before you entered the world. So try being humble if you can.thank you

Compared to our old processor, an Optimod 8400, no; there was no pumping. I've done A/B testing on it for a week to make sure that what I was hearing was actually there. I went BY THE BOOK in setting it up.

Oldiesstation: Excuse me, but I have enough time on my hands to make sure that we get it right. Don't question whether or not I asked in a humble way. I asked as humbly as I possibly could, but it would be naive of you to go around thinking that you're owed some amount of reverence just because you exist. You're a person just like I am. And I'll thank you not to refer to me as a "kid". I'm an adult. I find it funny that you are so quick to say that I don't know what I'm doing, that I'm hearing things, and that you've "been doing this LONG before you entered the world." Well that's tremendous, Oldiesstation; what a great example of humility. Why don't you prove yourself by offering some legitimate advice?

I have plenty of time for processing, and making us have a good sound; I don't have time for petty games. Grow up. Thank you.

legitimate advice? Here's some for you,get an engineer that knows processing and you get out of the way.you're just a young wanna be that has no clue what you are doing.you are boring us to death with the post.oldies station has set up more processors than you will see in a lifetime.Sounds like you are tripping on "Red Bull" or something.Try one a day not a 6 pack.

Boys, boys, boys... Let's simmer down a bit, OK?

IMHO I don't find this thread to be a "waste of time". We all gotta learn tthings somehow, right?

You know what, forget it. I'm off this board. I was stupid to think that I would ever get any help on here. Good luck to all of you.

LOL! Children! It amazes me that someone would come in here asking for advice and get so damn wierd so fast. I with the rest of you guys about the pumping problem. His hyper-compressed crap is likely get getting sucked up by the ONE's processing. Just guessing but the only fix for this would be to turn the AGC input down and the overall processing down to where it's basically acting more as just a limiter and less as a compressor/limiter. By default the One seems to be set up for older music and MUSIC in general, not CRUD.

Thank you OKCradioguy, GEE nothing like OVER Compressing HYPERCOMPRESSED Material. Most FM processing is over compressed today.i like em smooth, open and bright.6EXI setup right, JUST DAM AWESOME to listen to.

the BEST solution is to obtain non-hypercompressed material, whenever possible. I'm sure both Foti and Orban would agree to this. It's sad how mastering has gotten as bad as it has.

Amen to that. Dubbing Christmas music--yes, Christmas music--pop artists, too, --this fall. Some of the new stuff looks like a waveform of a '60's AM rocker at carrier pinch-off. Or a TV waveform where the camera is looking at a sea of white t-shirts on a bright, sunny day...
