Omnia ONE pumping

Really? I did not know that they EQ'd their tracks...

There are maybe a handful of tracks that are not from JonesTM. These are from the new PlayMPE service. Still, they are supposedly linear, uncompressed WAV files when they went into the system. There are 2 types of files that they offer, one is an mp3 at 512k or something around that, and the other is a WAV file. We'll have to re-dub those to JonesTM as well.

I do too, but everybody knows that this art of audio processing isn't an exact science...There are many variables that go into making an FM signal sound great. I've noted my Omnia One problems in this forum before, and I've called Omnia on the phone. They were nothing but helpful, but you must remember that they're technicians over the phone. They can only help your problem according to the degree of information you give them.

It's funny, because everybody at my station calls me crazy for spending nearly 2 months tailoring our signal to how my ears like it, and I mean it's not perfect (there are many variables in our broadcasting chain equation that complicate matters), but for what we need our Omnia to do, it does a damn good job at doing it. One thing I can suggest though, because our station was having pumping issues on the low end, is to adjust the amount of processing/ compression applied to the higher AGC bands. One thing I've learned is that the Omnia plays nicely when it's processing power isn't challanged to an extreme point...I'd say keep the availible processing power somewhere above 50/60%...

Robbio....I can tell that you are starting to 'get it'! You hit the nail on the head witht he above statement, and it is true for *any* audio processor. More often than not, you will find that less really is more! One of those contradictory aspects of audio processing...but an especially valuable lesson in today's musical world!

Oxford, AL in an unrated market. We are closer to Birmingham than Atlanta. Can't pick up any Atlanta stations here, but some locals listen to some of the more powerful Birmingham stations here.

Was checking in on e-mail, and here, and noticed that my site was hit with a bug in the downloads section...so I was up fixing it.

Check out "Processing Essays" too as they kind of "fill in" some concepts I talk about in the articles in ways we could not do in a magazine...example: Audio clips and some deeper background info that space would not permit.
