Omnia One

I searched the forums regarding this and much of the messages spam many months back and even back to the unit's introduction. With that in mind I thought I would ask those who have been using it for awhile.

I'm interested in this for a low-cost AM processor with the benefit that it can be flashed to become a web processor when the time comes.

How is this for bang for the buck? Has the software update radically improved the box? I had read past reviews around that the sound can be busy when pushed, at least compared to the more costly Omnia models.

Lastly, as anyone seen these used units for sale in the wild? I rarely if ever see used for sale so it makes think most users hold on to them. With a limited budget for the project I'm trying to be responsible since it's for a non-profit.

Contact me off list if you're interested. I have "one," ......no pun intended ;). It is an FM model, but can be flashed for AM. It is new other than being used for 15 minutes as a backup. Then back in the box and onto the shelf.

It's a good box. I have one on my AM station, and I think it is the best sounding AM in the market. Although I like it, you might also consider the BW Broadcast DSP-AM. It is almost 3 db less money than the Omnia and a great little processor.

If you want to hear what one sounds like on a stream, click up WBGO.com. I've been told they use one on their stream. In my opinion, it is one of the best sounding streams out there.

I've heard before that money is power, but never had it reduced to decibels. I like it. ;D

Has the One's HF ducking problem been fixed?

The Omnia 6 had the same problem, but the One did it even worse due to its fewer amount of bands. But that was back when it was a 4-band processor; I have not sampled the One since its 5-band upgrade.

The 5 band limiter upgrade did fix that issue. Sounds a lot better, very close to a well tuned 6 when set up properly.

I'd like to see a 5 band upgrade for the AM version.

The difference between the original 4 bands and the new 5 bands is like night and day. I did the firmware update on an old unit and grabbed a Corny preset (Hot AC I think it was). WOW! What a difference. Is our One an Omnia 9? Hell no. But, for a 3k box, it's God's gift to small market radio. 99 percent of listeners probably couldn't even tell...
