I'm considering buying one of these. Any of you folks heard anything, good or bad, about this unit? Do I need to have any processing ahead of it?
Thanks
Thanks

My previous car radio also showed that distortion but not nearly as bad as the Rolls did.
I couldn't agree more...but these are KLOVE outlets and that is their standard monitor so I usually use the headphone jack on the Omnia. However, pushing the presets on the Rolls reveals which stations are using Omnia's with the Phat Bass engaged. It stands to reason that if the Rolls distorts on those signals, there have to be other equally poor receivers that do too. So in a preverted way, the Rolls actually reveals something that we need to be alert for (how poor quality receivers react to state of the art processing). Who'd ever have thought that a Rolls tuner would be uniquely qualified to do anything?wgliradio said:BobOnTheJob said:There's a Rolls FM Tuner in the rack for monitoring and when the CHR pre-set is used, the low end audio from the Rolls is badly distorted, although it sounds OK on the headphone jack on the Omnia. I wouldn't go by anything from a Rolls tuner, or any Rolls product. If I were you I would replace that Rolls with anything if you are using it to monitor. Even a broken down Technics analog tuner from the late 70's is better.
Still playing, but I took CHR, dialed out most of the phat bass & stereo enhance and adjusted the drive of the multibands for 5-10db gr on each during an 'average' song. Also turned the gating off on each band as the source material is very quiet & no sucking up results. EMF likes these things to be loud but non-irritating...a task the Omnia 6 handles with grace (pun intended)...menotti1 said:What preset are you running? with your format ,phat bass would not be used much.download the warm and comtemp preset from the omnia site, increase bass alittle and you'll have a great sound for your format.

As a matter of common business sense, I predict there will be a significant difference on-air between the top-of-the-range Omnia 6 and bottom-of-the-range Omnia One, as well as other more expensive models.
Your best bet is to wait for it to come out and as always - take it for a test drive along with the other similarly priced processors...
