I saw a similiar post that is now a couple of years old. I am hoping a new post might come up with something. I think there are more than a couple of stations out there which have a failed omnitronix transmiter. Mine is a 1kw unit which bit the dust during a lightning storm. I have seen other failures like mine where the power amps are working fine but the exciter has taken a dump and the exciter has lost it ability to control the power output. Once the unit is fired up it goes full tilt and the 1kw unit puts out 2.5 kw with non distorted modulation for a minute of so till the thermal failsafe shuts it all down. This indicates the problem is in the exciter board and is probabaly cost effective to fix. But nobody I know wants to take a look. We have the books on this box but I no longer have the bench setup or time to fix it. We took a settlement from the insurance comany and they let us keep the dud. So it makes sense to have the board fixed and keep this as a back up stand by. Of course as we all know Omnitronix closed shop along with parent LPB and left us all in the cold. And yes we all regret now not going with a long established company in the first place but we all shared in the feeling that we were getting a bargain at the time. Our replacement is a Nautel... lesson learned... So with all that being said don't we have one good tech who wants to make a few bucks putting Omnitronix units back in service?. From what i can see other than the heat sinks and torroids most of the parts appear to be off the shelf.
