I was actually hoping to simply post this as a new comment reviving an old thread: RIP Tom Noonan (June 14, 2010); alas, the prior thread is “closed due to inactivity”…. :-(
So … now some 14 years later (wow, that’s sure hard to believe!) … just yesterday, while digitizing old 99BBF “Saturday Night All-Request Rock ’n’ Roll Jukebox” airchecks for my podcast (“The Jukebox: Radio Archive”), I came across some on-air banter between Tom Noonan and me — that even I hadn’t heard for 25 years (and, honestly, I had completely forgotten about)! What great fun hearing the interaction … and Tom’s voice again (and needing to “bleep” him!).
From June 19, 1999 — 16:00 mark:
The Jukebox: Radio Archive (June 19, 1999)
Plus … a couple notes especially for Buffalo readers:
2:10 mark: Cliff (from Buffalo). This guy (who I didn’t know other than from talking to him on the phone when he’d call in requests) was a regular weekly caller. He was usually out driving someplace … and was always fun to talk to (in this case, a little bit about the Sabres … other times about old Buffalo radio station WYSL … and old strip club, Club Diamond Dust).
(If anyone happens to know him, feel free to give him a head’s up!)
20:27 mark: Linda (of North Tonawanda). I guess she liked us (99BBF) better than … WHTT? (Or whatever Buffalo station was playing oldies in ’99.)
16:30 mark: Tom Noonan: “Are you gonna leave me one of those 3:30 in the morning messages?” (Read my comment on the old RIP Tom Noonan thread; I’m pretty sure he was referring to some personal “commiserating” that was going on at the time….)
