In light of some of the previous discussions on this board, you might mention the rate of pay in your appeal for p-t'ers.

Re: Hot 98.1

I used to listen to Hot 98.1 sometimes in Asheville, since 96.5 WOXL's translator on the east side is on 98.1 the two stations are fighting for the same frequency. Are not these 2 stations to close together?

It's funny, I was just about to make a post regarding the new translator in Asheville. I flipped over to 98.1 in West Asheville yesterday, expecting to hear Hot 98.1, which is one of my favorite GSP stations. Instead, I got WOXL. I was a bit surprised that a co-channel translator was approved that close. WHZT has had as much as a 1.3 share in Asheville. I suppose the new WOXL translator will kill that, and it's a shame. WOXL's signal has always been weak in that direction, which is why they simulcast the station on 970 in Canton. I suppose the sign-on of the new translator brought about the format/call letters swap of 970 which is now WYSE and simulcasts with WISE.

At any rate, I wish their translator would have ended up on a different frequency. WHZT filled a format hole in Asheville, and rather well I might add.

The going rate in Charlotte is $10/hr. Hope it's at least close to that, doubt it would be more.

I would love to get back into radio! I was a pt jock on Sat mornings in New England for 15 years, then I moved to Charlotte. :( I only made 7 bucks an hour but it was more a hobby then a job. If I was closer to Greenville, I'd jump on this opportunity.

Since you're in Charlotte you should try the good folks at Clear Channel who sometimes need weekend help. Todd Haygood is in charge of the part-timers, he's a nice guy. In fact there are a lot of good people over there.

Also check with CBS, I don't know what's open. It might be just a board op for the sports stations.

Some are, some aren't. Clear Channel employs people to watch over the voice tracked stations. That also might include dubbing spots into the system. It would at least give you a foot in the door. If you have a good aircheck they might use you on the weekend.

Give it a try and good luck!

No airchecks! My last station I worked at WFTN/WPNH/WSCY didn't do airchecks and didn't have the equipment to do them....Oh well...My airchecks from WLNH/WWHK are long gone. It would be great if the HD frequencies started doing local broadcasts. It doesn't look likely though.

Nope those are all programed at corporate and look at it this way they won't have a paid staff till they start making money and maybe not even then. They won't make money till they get a mass audience and we are quite far from that. I predict it will take many years for HD Radio to catch on.

For one thing HD radios are still hard to find. Have you ever noticed nothing gets pushed anymore (HD radio, HDTV) unless it's tied to a subscription? It's very hard to find a HDTV tuner but easy to find Dish, DirecTV boxes and cell phones. The question is how many slices can you take out of our paychecks? My parents had a water bill, electric bill, gas bill and phone bill, yet they were happy.

The 970 frequency is so strong where I stay when I go to the mountains.

When WOXL was WZLS, sometimes I stayed in Maggie Valley, and it had a listenable signal there.
