Anybody else notice all of the on-air changes lately at WFMY-TV 2 and the TV 2 News? Tanya Rivera has taken over most of the evening newscasts with Frank Mickens being in a more support role. Some nights, he is out in the field reporting live as a reporter! What all new changes are planned for WFMY? Who is the new GM there? The Morning Team seems better now too...

The New GM has a News Background, Larry Audas comes from Gannett's Little Rock station KTHV. He has been News Director, Anchor, Reporter at various stations. He attended Bob Jones University.

It's an interesting placement to put someone with that much news experience at WFMY. I suspect that Gannett has been remotely tweaking WFMY since Hooper left. They don't want to lose the news race. It's been a cash cow for so long.

Don't want to lose the news race? FMY lost the news race several years ago and hasn't been a cash cow for Gannett since then either. It all started after they booted Kinard, Hogewood, Randy Jackson and all the people that were around them. Hooper (and Gannett) saw all that cash going out the door with the anchors after 2001 and needed to shore up some bonuses for her (along with keeping her job), so they brought in young and dumb and cheap. Not to mention they had a boob of a ND for several years and he killed their news operation too. He kept them in the black on the books, but as far as journalistic integrity...FMY lost that back around 2004-2005. Cheap help (both on-air and behind the scenes) gave them cheap newscasts and it still exists today. It's sad, cookie cutter, corporate television that “dumbs down” the news so much, it treats the viewer like their mentally challenged. I'll stick with 8 and 12. A smarter and more tenured cast of characters at both.

I agree totally and I once worked for Gannett when they weren't cheap. I personally like 12 the best!bigape

I would agree taht WXII-TV 12 NBC is putting on the BEST local newscast right now. Great local coverage, serious when needed and SUPER chemistry between the anchors- It is not FORCED like on TV 8 WGHP Fox. Tv 8 is way too uptight and often appear like a "deer in headlights". WFMY CBS 2 News has poor local coverage and too many "special interest" nationally packaged stories and not enough REAL news. Eric Chilton is good on Tv 2, the rest not so much. Fox 8 newscasters need to get a PERSONALITY!!! There often look "lost" and very nervous!!

I don't like the silly ways the anchors stand over by the weather desk asking Van or whoever about the forecast! This station has serious problems like 2 does. Mornings suck too with too many Public interest stories with the Chunky blonde. Only thing I have against 12 is the "Girl Talk BS.. It really sucks!

I agree Big Ape!!! And what is up with the VERY prego Emily Byrd Weather Girl in the Mornings? Does WGHP-TV 8 not give their employees HEALTH insurance??? That poor girl`s stomach is HUGE and BLOCKS almost ALL of the weather map when she is giving the forecast!!! That poor girl should have been put on maternity leave WEEKS ago!!! She is WAY too pregnant to keep working!! It makes TV 8 appear like they have no compassion to give her paid time off. And the chunky blond does go on and on about nothing. poor Neil McNeil and Juile Luck at night seem lost and very uninterested in doing the news.... They look like they have been through major trauma. Van Denton seems very confused and defensive about their weather forecasts... Nobody on TV 8 looks to be enjoying their job like they do on TV 12.

Poor little Julie Luck at Fox 8 can't read, she slurs, and I can't watch her anymore. She's not getting better, she's nice, but nice don't get it anymore! Please hire someone that reads!

More on-air changes are taking place on WFMY. Looks like they are going back to a 1970`s style newscast!

I hope they bring back the leisure suits, the handmade blackboards, and put the weathermen on Dialing for Dollars, a kid's show, or a Creature Feature on Saturday nights!

Who we gonna get for the "Horror" show..."Paul Bearer is dead"

I think that Frank Mikens should grow a big fro and host "Frank`s Rascals" with co-host Eric Chilton- A kiddies show!!!

Bring back "The Ol' Rebel"!! :D

I do think that WFMY needs to bring back The Ol` Rebel!!! I think that Weatherman Eric Chilton would be a FANTASTIC new Ol` Rebel!!! He would even look alot like the original Ol` Rebel in costume!!! Anybody remember Limbo The Clown on WGHP-TV 8 or Miss Libba also on TV 8???
