Anybody have any inside/informed info about this opening?

Considering their inability to hire deejays on all shifts, I would question if I wanted that job. Plus their playlist sucks big time. I loved the station two years ago and now I can't stand it. Their playlist never changes. They are worse than 103.

They mean NO phone calls too! I've tried to reach Bobby twice. Busy? Left voice mail for two days and no call back! LOL NO! I wasn't asking about the job! I was asking why they dumped Alice Cooper! Anyone have an answer for that one? Bobby ain't talking! ;)

Email his boss! Only kidding. What did happen to Alice?

That's ALL I wanted to know!

I am curious about that too Gregg and what is interesting is after Alice they have never had a nighttime shift deejay. It is just straight music. I listened to Alice every night when it was on and I knew a ton of people who did. In fact, I knew a great of teenagers who did as well and several of them became Alice fans and started buying some of his albums. Maybe the ratings weren't there I don't know. However, I hear he is on in over 100 markets and do well in most large cities. Considering they don't have deejays on all shifts, I am going to assume they don't have a big budget, so maybe the ratings couldn't justify the expense. They have said for three years they planned to have an 80's show as well and that has never happened. How much does it cost to run syndicated shows like Alice, Dee Snider, Rockline, Flashback, etc?

Ok, color me uninformed, but they already have Bev & Jarman on the payroll - are there legal ramifications why they can't be on the air?

Not sure about Bev, but I have heard Jar on with D/Z, right?

Yeah, Jar is in the background, but he doesn't have his own show....

Just an observation the cute morning girl from Snap is no longer on the site and I haven't heard her on-air in a while.....

Go for it baby!....opportunities like this don't come up every day. Tell 'em Groucho sent ya!

Hello all on this board. I am new here and new to Memphis. I’ve been in radio for 20 years or so, but ten year ago got married and my wife and I had a beautiful daughter. I then joined the ranks of the nine to fivers but I’ve continued to do radio on weekends over the years.

I was glad to see Antoine Domino’s post about the opening at WXMX as I was curious too (they’ve put up ads for not only mid days but also afternoon drive and part time which is what I’m interested in too)

My question about WXMX is more about what it’s like to work there these days even part time. Does anyone know? I like radio but not enough to get involved with a bad situation. I see sandscott doesn’t like the max very much either although I see the max ratings going up these days on allaccess. I think I also saw an opening at 93X. What it like inside the building at WXMX? Does anyone have good information?

Thank you and it’s good to be here

Welcome pearlman63, this is very knowledgable board and everyone is very friendly. I hope you contribute often and give us your insight from someone not from the Memphis area originally.

I don't listen to SNAP in the mornings, so I hadn't noticed... But I'm a curious person, so I went to the website to see what I could find... I took a look at the Morning Show blog, and apparently she called in sick in early July, and there's no mention of her anywhere after that.... Hmmmm....

What's the deal with all the vanishing jocks at Entercom lately?

I think that their "bottom line" is starting to get effected and now the heat is on.

Alice has been off the station for several months, it is not recent. His show left the station around the time Bob Duncan took over as PD and ruined the station. Now Drake and Zeke's show is a joke and they can't decide if they are a classic rock station or X98. My suspicion is Cooper was probably only getting so-so ratings (I listened to the show a lot for deep album cuts) and when they decided to start playing the crap that is new rock and Cooper's show played straight classic rock, the decision was made. I went from listening to 98.1 all the time to barely being able to stomach the station. Am I the only one who feels that way?

I'd like to hear Jarman and Bev back on the air. How about Jar nights Bev middays. I know she's been doing sales for them. Also heard Wes was there now. How about that the people from cc are over at the citadel now. And Tom will be startring his new show tomorrow on Kim. Hope they get some more on air talent.

From Radio Online:
Classic Rock WXMX-FM (98.1 The Max)/Memphis taps Danni Bruns for afternoon drive, effective immediately. Also joining the Citadel outlet for middays is long-time Memphis night icon Chris Jarman, beginning September 4. Bruns had filled the PM drive shoes for the past 2 months. PD Bobby "Slam" Duncan rounds out ther lineup in nights.
