While were on the subject of logos used by PBS during programming... Anyone know why during kids programming on WGBY/57 Springfield they just have a PBS Kids logo? Every so often WGBY will pop out of the left side of the logo and then go back in. During non-kids programming in WGBY they have the PBS logo with WGBY coming out of the left side of the PBS logo.

CPTV on the other hand will have a logo that says CPTV Kids during Kids programming.

Maybe the CPTV group is smuggling ratings diaries to pre-teens and adolescents? Wanna tip off the commission?

Actually...I think it's a breath of fresh air when ANY station (cable, local or whatever) can just SHOW their programming without a lot of written clutter on the bottom, the top or the sides?

I guess if the PBS stations really wanted to be mean to their PBS kids....they could threaten to "shoot big bird" unless their parents increased their annual subscription by $50.00 or more?

Cool logo on WSBE Channel 36 in Providence

In the bottom right corner of the screen they show a white bird with it's wings stretched out and above it, RI PBS. Haven't noticed if they use the PBS kids logo for childrens programming.
______________

Don't know, but let me ask this...
Isn't WGBY run out of WGBH in Boston? I know they were at one time.
In fact, I somehow remember them also being paired of with WNEH as "New England Public Television."

Am I wrong about this?

I don't know, but a few days ago, the PBS Kids logo was still on the screen for the 18:00 BBC World News on WGBY, and it was obscurring part of the news crawler, making it difficult to read it.

I was afraid they were gonna keep it there forever, but the next day I believe it was gone. I really hate those watermarks, useless things that get in the way.
Edited by Whale on 03/26/06 04:32 AM.
