On this date in 1978:

Casey Kasem's American Top 40 recognizes WQAM as a new affiliate for AT-40. Previous to WQAM AT-40 was carried in South Florida on WGBS 710. WGBS dropped the show when it became "Musicradio 7000 The NEW WGBS.

AT-40 was on XM 7 today, the replay is Wednesday night at 10P eastern if anyone cares.
 
The late Mike Brock ran the board for that show. I'll never forget being called in because someone had accidentally spilled pure vodka on the board. WQAM had an open door policy when Brock ran things, which eventually let to his dismissal. Wish that guy could've gotten control of his partying. Despite the work load he created for us engineers, you couldn't have met a nicer guy.
 
I don't think he worked there in the short time I was there in 1978. The funny thing is I ran AT-40 at both WGBS and WQAM that year. I always enjoyed doing it because it gave me material for my show.
