On Top Communications

I know at one time On Top communications had some presence in the Jackson market. There have been posts on the Georgia board about the company's stations there. Is the company still in Jackson or are they getting out of that market as they appear to be doing in Georgia? I'm not trying to spread a rumor but this inquring mind wants to know.
I worked for the company for a very short while when they bought their first stations and was just wondering how Steve and the company were doing?

As the character on John Boy and Billy says,"Not too good!". Not sure what presence you're referring to, but the On Top stations were never successful, unless you consider misleading a few advertisers and listeners as to what the stations were offering. Hegwood's friends have run out of money, poor planning by inadequate management has prevented any possible success in the Jackson market, and, quite frankly, the ability of established urban stations to offer a superior product on the air has prevented any window of opportunity. Hegwood obviously has the reputation as a good programmer, but it takes more than that. Sorry if this seems harsh and flippant, but going head to head with two class C stations with only a 6kw suburban signal, funded by other people's money, was not smart,in my opinion.

Don't forget, too, that On Top lost an LMA in Virginia. If OT's finances are really that bad, I'm surprised they even lasted this long.<P ID="signature">______________
