Once again Warm is seeking a new morning show

I am flattered. We began using "Today's Hits and Yesterday's Favorites" on Sunny before it was "Sunny", back in 1994 maybe, before I even owned the station which is now Sunny. Actually, it was the slogan used by ABC Radio Networks for their AC format. Not only are there a zillion variations, there are a lot more "Sunny" stations in the US since we adopted it in 1998, the year our "Sunny" was born.

What next, Seattle adopts "Today's Hits and Yesterday's Favorites" and KJR adopts "The Jet" which I've been using for close to 15 years. I suspect there are also a lot of "The Jets" but we have the actual call letters. Of course that doesn't matter much anymore.

I also note that within a year or two after we launched "The Quake" ("shaking up the Coast", "a tsunami of Classic Rock"), KPQ in Wenatchee rebranded as "The Quake". We recently launched a classic country format as "Timber Country". If someone else rebrands as Timber Country, I'll start thinking conspiracy.

What does matter in any business is consistency. I understand the need for the music to evolve, along with the talent, but branding is important.

I thought KPQ had been The Quake for years? Also, there's one branding that's fairly safe, Bigfoot Country 107.3. How local of a name is that? I think you're pretty safe with Timber Country as well.

I don't have a firm date, but I remember KPQ-FM using the Quake branding as far back as 2000, plus or minus. (My girlfriend was attending CWU at the time, and I remember listening to them when I drove over to see her.)

That sounds about right, my first memory of radio in that part of the state would have been them, and it must have been summer of 2000, because I remember we took the van on that trip which we got in November of 99.

Back to Adam and Ashley, I find it interesting that Ashley began her radio career working as a promotions assistant at KJR-AM; from working in promotions, she eventually transitioned to on-air. Great to see that she now has the well-deserved opportunity to host a morning show.

Just curious how you determined that Ashley "deserved" this opportunity. Did you work with her or is it speculation?

Does it matter whether someone works with an individual on whether they "deserve" a better job? There are many people who deserve better that we have never worked with.

Hell, don't we ALL deserve better in life in general?

Unfortunately, I've never had the opportunity to work with her. I just found it fascinating that she began her broadcasting career in Seattle handing out free promotional items (a job description that many of us are well acquainted with...) and now will have her own morning show. Wishing her the best.
