I'm 40yo, been in radio 20 years... it's something I wanted to do ever since I was a little kid.. and even at 40 years old, I haven't lost that feeling of child like wonderment, power and magic that radio has.
From West central alaska, the Radio Nacional (Brazil) Amazonias shortwave service is intended to serve, well.. the Amazon region of Brazil...even though I'm about 5000 miles/8000km from their target area, the pound in up here often.
I've been a regular participant in the listener interactive show , “Eu de Cá Você Lá” (Me Here, You There) even though I don't speak Portuguese but I've tried tried to learn a few words when I send in a WhatsApp voice note that gets used on air
I got an email from someone listening who recognized my name and voice after the show on Monday! A Dxer in Ontario whos originally from Rio de Janeiro emailed me to say he heard.. I had no idea he was originally form Brazil but he told me he listens to the Amazonias shortwave service regularly.
That just tickled me a bit and is one of those life moments/coincidences that I love.
