One Good Rewind (Not In Boston)

I agree that for the typical show, weekend "rewinds" are a drag. But in one case, "The Stephanie Miller Show", the nightly rewind on Buffalo, NY's WWKB 1520 is a Godsend (although there is no evidence a God exists and has ever intervened in human events). As long as sunset is before 7:00 pm, I can hear that days's show unless it's pre-empted by college sports. On days off I can listen for the whole 3 hours on Boston's Progressive talk, but because I have limited time at night, I usually take in only the right-wing talk review in the first hour. It's the best segment of the show and it's funnier than Letterman/Leno and almost as funny as Jon Stewart! I'm glad Steph cued me in on the Fox rerun of that religious fanatic momma on their "Trading Spouses" show Friday night, something I wouldn't watch otherwise. The Middle East has their madrassas, but the Southern USA has something very similar, and the people they churn out are as nuts as the Jihadists. I wouldn't be surprised if Steph does another segment of that TV show Monday sometime.

I cought Steph's show on Friday night and it came in great on my Grundig, I am in southern NH so that is a powerful skywave. I can already get Lionel from NY so I wished they would have taken Malloy (or someone else) as lionel has at least 3 50kW powerhouses running him now (WOR, WWKB, and the Cincinati station).

I'm disappointed in WCKY-AM 1530...it's next to useless when it comes to picking up Air America at night. I swear that they used to come in like a local many years ago, but now it's barely audible under 1520/1540 splatter.

WCKY's night directional array was completely redesigned some years ago (not sure how many years). The night pattern does not look anything like what it used to look like, although the signal in this direction is still pretty strong (a little stronger than a 50 kW nondirectional signal would be from half-wave towers). Remember, though, that Cincinnati is about 750 miles from Boston, so we really are on the fringes of WCKY's 0.5 mV/m 50% skywave contour. The Chicago ND Class As are only a little farther. Of those, we now have one co-channel station locally (WAMG) and one first-adjacent (WRKO). But the other two (WGN, WBBM) are relatively speaking in the clear and neither comes in that well, so I wouldn't expect WCKY's signal to be that great here and I would expect it to get splattered on by WWKB (which I can hear only very occasionally because of my proximity to WWZN).
