One less reason to turn on local radio

The Real Deal Bob Steele's show was cancelled.

I've read a lot about local radio legends on this board recently. Sean McKay is by far a local radio legend and not in just Altoona, but in all of Central PA. Not too many people will be remembered nearly as much as Sean, but my radio hero (and legend to me) was Michael Kay on WHPA/The Real Deal on WALY. The Real Deal Saturday Night Drive-In went way deep and gave air time to so many great records.

I realize that there are shows like this on XM and of course we have Pandora, but many will miss hearing those on the radio. I know many more will miss hearing a great Boss Jock on Altoona radio.

RealDealBobSteele.com will be updated with any developments and hopefully a podcast will be online soon.

Sorry to hear that the show was cancelled. The web site blamed it on an unfortunate business decision. Do you know anymore?

It was a good show.

Not many available locally.

The show didn't fit the format, pure and simple. That station has evolved into more of a soft AC....time to get over it and move on!

Isn't Bob Steele(WALY) and Mike Keith(ROCKY) one in the same?

Heard the show once. it was awful. Sounded like a really bad "Greaseman" imitation and the Greaseman himself is truly annoying. Stuck out on the station like a sore thumb. I have to agree with the poster who said it didn't fit the format. Let's face it, WALY has evolved into less and less of an Oldies outlet and morphed into an Adult A/C right before our eyes. Heck Backtraxx USA with Kid Kelly would probably fit their persona better than Real Deal did. Its just not who WALY is anymore. The good times, great oldies took a walk several years ago in favor of plenty of WALY music (whatever that is) :)
