One more question about Jonesboro

What's going on at East Arkansas Broadcasters, saw in All Access they were looking for an on air country programmer/ director. Anyone know the pay scale? A buddy of mine up there said there's a swinging door up there, why is that? I checked out their website and not a recognizable name or face on the bill there. Is this NOT a place I would want to move to? Anyone?

As a former PD/on-air guy for EAB I would say stay as far away as possible...they don't have a clue. Dennis Rogers

If you like Mosquitos and tornados then Jonesboro is for you......

.....it is close to Memphis, but that is the only good thing that I remember about it. The market in Jonesboro is pretty primitive if you like rock radio, however if you like COUNTRY radio , it might be for you....

There are some pretty good sounding country stations in Jonesboro, but everything else is not that good...

And, of course, that's the 'reason' to be in radio because we like the music??????? WOW

What I meant was that there are some really good country stations in Jonesboro. They sound awesome over there and sound a hell of a lot better than the rock stations....

So, if you want to work at a really good sounding rock station in Jonesboro, you will be upset, but if you like the country format, then Jonesboro is good.....

oh yeah...the old Kiss with Phil and Christi and Carl the Engineer and Zeke! Where are they?

I've been in Memphis since '98, was briefly at Clear Channel there at 96X, left after it became Oldies, did a short stint at Froggy 94
then started at Flinn Broadcasting in 2000 - while at Flinn I've been on the air on Kiss FM 107.5, on The Pig, the country station Y96.1,
but mainly been doing production for all the stations.

I don't know you guys but you are right about Bobby and company. They ran an ad in allaccess which I answered. Talked to BB and had a good feeling about him. He never called me back and passed a message to me through whomever answered the phone that Scott (the GM) would call me back. He didn't. I met with Bobby and again seemed like a nice guy and now he doesn't return my calls either. Now, I know that I'm not the best jock around but after working in New Orleans (WNOE FM and WRNO), Las Vegas (KLSQ, KFM, KWNR and KFBI), and Memphis (FM 100, Rock 103, The River and The Pig) I am certainly deserving of a little professional consideration. I think I may be good enough for Jonesboro!

Hey Mitch, you're one of the good guys. Those guys at EAB have a terrible reputation in the market, plus they have amazing egos to be in a market the size of Jonesboro.
As they say in Texas, "Big Hat, No Cattle" They are the original dollar holler guys and have cheapened the market dramatically.
Good luck in your search.

Jharmon, are you any relation to the "Jay Harmon" who did a talk show on KFH/Wichita in the late 1950s, then went to KRMG when Swanson bought it from Meredith in the early '60s?

Munch McCrunchkin, navigate to the Louisiana board, and check out info on a get-together for us '70s/'80s denizens, coming up the day before Easter at Captain Humble's po-boy restaurant acrotch the twin bridges in Slidell. Ya oughta meander on down, ya heah? (Mikey Dere won't be dere, so no fear of witnessing--or committing--mayhem, ::)).

Soxless.
