Forgive me if this topic was covered already, but now that the merger has gone through, does anyone know if you can have sirius for 12.95 a month then instead of adding a second sirius tuner for 6.95 or whatever it costs, can you just add an Xm tuner for the same 6.95? It's one company now, right? I think I'm going to call them on monday and find out. I think I already know the answer though :D

That question was brought up during Howard Sterns interview with Mel. You would have to pay the full price for XM if you already have Sirius, and vice versa. It's best to wait a few months to see exactly what channels the new packages that would contain both Sirius & XM channels will have and see what the new radios that will be able to receive both services are like.

Right, Right. of course. Why save the consumer money with this merger??? so not only pay full sub. prices for both, but buy a new radio on top of it. WTF??

sheesh calm down. the merger was just approved, how can you possibly expect the operations to magically meld together so quickly?

besides there was never any promise you would get both xm and sirius channels for less, the promise for saving money is you'll be able to choose channels you want from whatever channels remain instead of having to paying for all.

Personally I think the ala carte plans are a ripoff. There's actually one plan where you get less for more: $14.95 for 100 channels. In the meantime, you can get 135 channels for $12.95. What the f?

I think this would be a decent plan:

$6.95/month - 50 channels
$8.95/month - Mostly music plan
$8.95/month - Mostly talk/sports plan
$9.95/month - 100 channels
$12.95/month - All channels

And some discounts for people who are subscribing to the other service while already on one:

$4.95/month - 50 channels
$5.95/month - Mostly music plan
$5.95/month - Mostly talk/sports plan
$6.95/month - 100 channels
$8.95/month - All channels
