One reason I like DXing...

Where there's a few, but this one: languages.,

I've been exposed to and logged languages I never knew existed!

I've learned several key/important words in Portuguese thanks to my interaction with Radio Nacional Amazonias (i can say good morning, good night, many hugs, cold, hot, happy new year, merry chrismas, etc)

And this..... even if you don't understand the language how can you not get a bit fired up at the futbol announcer holding "GOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLL for 10-20 seconds!

Theres still plenty of fun and stuff to be heard on SW even, esp. if you're not just chasing paper

IMHO: soccer is and European conspiracy to change the culture of America to make us get excited over "watching paint dry" waiting for the infrequent "gooooaaaalllllll". I myself like the Hispanic game shows with the scantly clad ladies / models. I don't understand a word but it definitely more fast paced to me.

As a soccer fan who finds American football boring (whistle blows, a bunch of blokes jump on top of each other, whistle blows. Stir and repeat), basketball dull (the epitome of repetitiveness) and baseball seemingly endless (only fun if two of us compete, one counting spits and the other crotch scratches), it's all in our personal experience and taste.

The thrill in soccer is watching how scores are prevented, and analyzing the few that make it. It is as strategic as chess, but faster than any other sport.

My brother and I watched those shows, but surprisingly our mom didn't believe that we were watching them so we could learn Spanish...

Sorry I guess I am part of the reason a good percentage of the world doesn't like us.

Back to DXing, back when I was playing chicken rock, it was nice to listen to the old WGAR 1220 at night to hear top 40 done properly.
