One Reason Why Mike FM Probably Does So Well

Its no secret that Mike FM is one of my favorite stations. On a typical day this happens, they play a song that is so-so, and I change the channel. As I scan across the dial I hear nothing but tired overplayed old songs and/or commercials.

After a few minutes of this my dial ends up back on Mike FM as the song that they are playing isn't really all that bad afterall, but everyone else failed to grab my attention to listen to them. Anyway, that is one listeners view as to why they are so popular in general.

when I was out shopping maybe a month ago, the store was playing Mike FM and I was pleasantly surprised with some of the songs played--definitely less predictable than other stations.

Very true. Mike has that going for it - non-predictability. Unlike most of the stations in this market...the playlist is not predictable or bland like most other stations.

It's on at my work in one of the departments....I think it's used as backround noise to drown out the machinery.

Actually Rapking, you may not think so, but there are some people who actually like both MC Hammer and the Police. Back when MC Hammer was popular, Sting was in the Top 40 at the time too.

Mike / Jack / Frank "we play anything" formats do really well with PPM.
