Was back in town this week and noticed a new tower on ONE SHELL, and I see (at least) KMJQ is up there. That's where KLYX had its tower when it was 102.1. I remember a thread on here about conditions really becoming bad up there....did someone make a reinvestment and kick-start that as an FM facility; or is it just used by a small handful of folks? I thought the whole "super tower" (around South Beltway) was where most TV/FM had migrated over the years?

The 170 ft mast atop One Shell Plaza carried numerous television and radio stations since the building's completion in 1971. The mast has supported KRIV Channel 26 since it went up. It has also simultaneously radiated signals for eight FM stations -- KYND (then 92.5, now KKBQ-FM on 92.9 MHz), 93.7 KRLY (now KKRW), 95.7 KIKK-FM (now KKHH), 99.1 KODA, 100.3 KILT-FM, 101.1 KLOL, 102.1 KMJQ, and 104.1 KRBE.
One Shell was used until completion of the Texas Commerce Tower in 1982–1983. That created a skyscraper canyon that causes multipath distortion, and necessitated the move to the Houston antenna farm in south Harris County.

Corrections will be welcomed, but according to GPS calculations converted from FCC records, One Shell (at 910 Louisiana) is the site of two auxiliary transmitters: KMJQ (13kW) and KILT (25kW). The HAAT for both comes to a little over 830 feet, but also of note is that both stations have higher-powered auxiliary transmitters at Missouri City. It looks like a case of double redundancy, not really a bad thing.
