One station now?

I have noticed a different top of the hour ID on WILM. Now, it is WILM Wilmington, WDOV Dover.

So, the complete merger has taken place? They have been running the same programming for some time now, so I guess treating the two stations as one makes sense.

Considering the spots for downstate businesses now frequently heard on WILM (for example, I heard one for a business in Camden, Delaware, coming out of the Wall Street Journal newsmagazine this A.M.) - this, in turn, reflecting the continuing resistance of upstate sponsors from being associated with a station airing almost exclusively all right-wing talk! - this should come as no great shock!

The tail (Dover) now wags the dog (Wilmington)!

I haven't listened to WILM for a while. They were doing the joint legal id during Elliot as his show was simulcasted on WDOV, but you're now saying they are doing it all day long. I don't think their programming differs at all until after Hannity at 6pm, then WILM was offering different syndicated shows into the evening and over night than WDOV, but maybe that too has changed and they are airing all the same stuff other than weekends. It makes sense for them, as now WILM/WDOV have essentially the same coverage area as WDEL. Maybe that will be an easier sell for local or Delaware regional spots. Bruce in Wilmington and Phil in Dover are the only on air folks left standing at either WILM or WDOV, amazing.

I'm hearing the ID's at 2pm and 3pm (I then change to WDEL as I can't stand Hannity). I just started noticing it this week. No mention of WDSD-HD2.

Also noticing that at 2:30pm they do not run news. Its just a 3 or 4 minute long commercial/PSA/Promo break. Wonder if the computer is just programmed long or if its intentional?

I'd assume the computer is messed up, but then again..........

Also, WILM is not running news at the bottom of the hour, at least at 2:30 and 3:30pm. Just running a (for them) normal stop-set of commercials and PSA's. What's going on?

That's Cheap Channel for you. I can't bring myself to listen to any CC stations, They are becoming network radio of the 30's, next to no local content all from the "Network", except for a few major markets. If you're going to listen to them, might as well listen to Live 365 or XM.

There was nothing wrong with network radio of the 1930's, 40's and early 50's. Many great shows with all sorts of great talent. Do you have a problem with TV being mostly on the bird feeding network and syndicated stuff or than if it bleeds it leads local news?

I rarely listen to WILM anymore, not because their shows come from the bird, but because they are boring and all essentially say the same thing. Obama and Democrats are evil, and the GOP/TEA party is good. Got it. If WILM had interesting programming coming from the bird, I'd tune in, they don't, so I don't other than Kim Kommando on the weekends sometimes.

I like the I heart radio network programming of Foggy Mountain Country music on WDSD-HD2 that's available online. It isn't local, but has great classic country from the 1960's-2000. NPR has some good network shows that I also listen to.

WDEL airs Phillies and Eagles games, they are not local shows, but a network feed from the Phillies or Eagles radio networks. During the various playoffs the games on WDEL come from Westwood One. The President's State of the Union, etc, I hear via either NPR on WHYY-FM or CBS radio via WDEL. You get the point.

In terms of local, sure, I listen to Al Messitti sometimes and Allan Loudell sometimes both on WDEL. I also listen to the local Radio Times on WHYY-FM. If the show is good, it doesn't matter to me if it is local or via a network. My guess is most listeners feel that way. We radio folks get uptight about voice tracking. The average listener doesn't care IF the music is what they want unless the voice tracker has an irritating voice or gets too talky.

Radio went local in the 1950's and 60's as network TV took radio listeners away essentially killing off those radio network shows, many of the network radio shows had in fact transferred to TV from radio as they were so popular. So radio reinvented itself as it has done a number of times.

Even though I personally don't listen to CC's line up of network radio shows, it isn't evil, just boring for my ear. They are banking on enough other folks who don't agree with me to be listening in.

Although I am a fan of Rush, there are days when he is just repeating the same line he was saying the previous 3 or 4 days. Hannity, during the hours he is running against Allan Loudell, leaves me with no choice other than listening to WDEL. Rick Jensen and Mr. Loudell are what radio is suppose to be.

The only station I listen to on I-Heart-Radio is WDAS-AM. I am a fan of the soul music of the 50's, 60's and 70's. The audio is great, on-line and in the car.

As you may guess, I remain a fan of AM radio.

I also listen to WDAS-AM. It's a breathe of fresh air from the usual formats.
